Boise State's Spring Fling: You Won't Want To Miss It

You just spent all day in the library as you start to prepare for dead week and you need a break. You find yourself craving summer fun. Well you're out of luck because the Idaho State Fair isn’t until August, but don’t worry because Spring Fling happens to be this Saturday. You grab your friends and head off to Spring Fling. As you walk in music is playing, you can smell the different food trucks and you see all the different activities going on and your heart skips a beat. There isn't one book in sight and you couldn’t be happier. This year though, it’s going to be bigger than ever and you don’t want to miss it.

The 40th Anniversary

One of Boise State’s longest traditions. Spring Fling has been around longer than the blue turf and it’s one of the greatest memories you will ever have at Boise State.

Carnival Rides

This is probably the sole reason you will be catching me at spring fling. Who doesn’t love a good spider ride or a slide? These rides will get you laughing and probably a little dizzy, nothing says the start of summer like a good adrenaline rush.

Food Trucks

In case this one needs any more justification, get your taste buds ready for mini donuts, Mad Mac, and Boise Fry Company.

Kalliope

It's making its return. In case you don’t know what Kalliope is, it's a larger than life boombox. It's all about that base with neon strobes and laser light-beams. Trust me, there isn't even a club in LA that is going to ever compare to this dance experience.

Giant Disco Ball

Yeah, you read that right. Student Involvement said bigger than ever and they don’t disappoint.

Human Sized Foosball

I mean foosball is pretty cool when it’s on a table, but life-size? This is going to make you question why soccer is an intramural sport and not human-size foosball.

Marble Body Paint

Marble is so in right now and who doesn’t like having their body painted?

Earth Day

Don’t worry all you Earth lovers, student involvement will also be incorporating some fun renewable/sustainable aspects into spring fling and why would you want to miss that?

College Memories

I remember spring fling from my freshman year like it was yesterday. If you are a freshman it can be one of your last memories of your freshman year, if you are a senior what better way to end it than pending the night doing a Boise State tradition? Spring Fling will be one of your favorite memories….I promise!

Everyone Is Going

Trust me you don’t want to miss it, last year 3,000 students attended and this year it will be even more…so do you want to be there or watching the fun from Snapchat? If you ask me, you want to be there.

See you on the 22nd!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Here are some things that you could do while being invisible, because being invisible can benefit your social life too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
