Spring Cleaning From A Neat Freak's Perspective

I like to clean, OK?

Cleaning is a big part of my life. If I’m bored, I start cleaning anything and everything. It’s just a way of life that I’ve grown up with. My life has to be stress-free and being a neat freak helps me keep the stress down. I’m sure I am not the only person who likes to have a clean home or really just likes to clean in general.

Spring cleaning is essential for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it helps freshen up your space. It not only freshens it up, but it gives you the feeling of happiness knowing that my space is stress-free. You feel so much better knowing that the minute you walk through the door, the whole house is spotless of any junk.

Secondly, it helps you de-clutter. Spring cleaning is the best time to do this cause you’re cleaning and stumbling upon things that you forgot you had in your closet. I do this many times a year because I spring clean all year round, but that really doesn’t make it spring-cleaning.

A good place to start is to have a space under the sink dedicated to cleaning supplies. This could be a tote of Swiffer cloths, window cleaner, disinfecting towelettes, and other cleaners.

Sometimes it can be hard to motivate yourself to spring clean. A good way to motivate yourself is if you live with a roommate or two, designate a day where you all clean together while listening to some awesome music. Then after, you guys could go out to get a bite to eat or get a drink to celebrate spring.

I don’t know, I guess being a neat freak and a really organized person is in my blood – THANK YOU, MOM! My mom raised me right when it comes to organizing, inventorying, and cleaning. I just like knowing where everything is and when the last time I cleaned was. I sometimes consider myself a Monica, but only to a certain extent. I don’t wake up at 3 a.m. with the need to polish all my tables like she does on the show.

I’m not one for a messy room, closet or all my stuff in the living room. I’ll maybe leave it for a day then the next day I’m going nuts because I feel like I have to clean it all up again. When I am at work at the YMCA, before my kiddos come in, I organize the cabinet. My cabinet at the school I worked at for almost a year has labels on each shelf for certain items.

Overall, spring cleaning for a neat freak happens all year round no matter what. But spring cleaning in the actual springtime helps air the home out with that fresh spring air. So get up, open your windows and have a good deep cleaning of your home.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
