It's time for another exciting change in the seasons! And this season gives you the perfect excuse to finally give your room the cleanse it's been needing all year! Here are some tips for cleaning your bedroom and start the season off right!
Closet
Use storage organizers to organize small accessories like socks, or pick up some cute containers to match your room! Also, consider the type of hangers you want to use. Plastic ones are solid, but try using velvet or wood ones for a closet upgrade.
Clothes
If you're like me, the majority of my room is covered in clothes. I consider myself a borderline clothing hoarder. This Spring, I challenge you as well as myself, to actually do something about the usual "donate, store, and keep" bags.
Take out all of your clothes, then sort them into either a donation bag, storage box (for seasonal clothing) or piles of the stuff you're actually going to keep.
It might be hard, but truly use the one year rule. If you haven't worn it in a year, chances are, you won't in the future. On top of that, try not having multiple versions of the same article of clothing. Try and keep the clothes that are your "go-to."
When I studied abroad I realized how small of a closet I can actually get by with. You'll be saving so much space and can even make some money by getting rid of clothes you don't need!
And if you're having trouble parting ways, or if something is still in great shape and cost you a pretty penny, look into apps such as Poshmark and Letgo, to sell your clothes easily through your phone!
Shoes

If you have a few pairs of shoes that are similar, I suggest purging yourself and keeping the ones that you like the most, or are the comfiest. Heels that don't fit right and you can't walk in after an hour are probably the first that should go. Selling online or through an app would be a perfect solution and make you feel better about giving up those to-die-for pumps!

Books
Sort your books into ones that you are going to sell, and ones that you still want around. Make sure you have all of the textbooks you want to sell in one place, and have them ready ASAP. I definitely am guilty of having textbooks from Freshman year I haven't gotten rid of...
As for your your books that are more for leisure, if you've read it once and don't know what to do with them, check into the closest store that buys back used books! You might not get much, but it's better than nothing!
The Actual Cleaning Part
And don't forget the most important part to give your room the TLC it needs. Dust all countertop surfaces, vacuum the floor, and polish all glass surfaces such as windows and mirrors!
Last but not least, don't forget to clean under your bed! Who knows, maybe you'll find that shirt you've been looking for, or you'll find a ton of gross things that have fallen down there that you should take care of ASAP.
After a day's worth of hard work, you'll both you and your room will be able to breathe a little easier, and feel so much cleaner!
Happy Spring cleaning!
