We are just about hitting that point in the semester, the point we have all been waiting patiently for: spring break! This will be my first spring break I am spending outside of Ohio, simply because I am studying abroad in Europe. I know, I know, lucky me. I'll be spending time in Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Paris, but I haven't yet experienced the magic or joys of Daytona and PCB.
So to all of you not going anywhere for spring break, it's not the end of the world. You'll have your chance to study abroad and until then here's a few things to keep yourself occupied this spring break.
First and for most...
Look for summer work.
As much as this one may suck, now is the time to do it. I cannot tell you how many little/big shops and restaurants are just waiting for college kids to walk in over spring break looking for summer jobs. Face the facts, once summer hits, you're going to want or need a job so why not get a kick start on it a few months ahead of the game?
Visit other colleges.
More likely than not, other colleges do not have the same spring break as you. So while your best friend from high school was on break two weeks back as you were suffering through midterms, she will be free to hang out this weekend! Make the time to reconnect with friends and experience new things instead of just Netflixing break away.
Start a Blog.
Why not start writing? You can easily make a blog on a website that is public or even private. The best way to establish your thoughts is too have them in front of you.
Enjoy family time!
Believe it or not, your family wants to know about your life and how you are doing, so take the time to let them know! Go visit your grandpa or your great aunt and learn more about them. Life is short, hear their history and start to tell them a little bit of yours.
Learn to cook.
Note to self: this is for you. Your dorm food or experienced chef of a roommate isn't always going to be there. Get on Pinterest or Buzzfeed, watch a few cooking videos, and become experienced with new ideas. You might just surprise yourself.
Have YOU time.
Please just enjoy yourself before you do anything. You deserve a break; after all, it's...
