For a select lucky few, the highly anticipated Spring Break means loading up the car and heading to the sandy shores of the coast. For the rest of us, sand in our shorts might not be on the agenda. While this alternative is great, sometimes we get stuck in a little bit of a rut and need some ideas to make our week-long vacation rock, even if we're not catching some rays or frolicking in the waves.
1. Take a day trip.
I would be willing to bet there is something cool within a couple of hours from your current location. Do a little research, and hit the road with your pals!
2. Go on a hike.
Where there is nature, there is an adventure just waiting for you! Imagine stumbling upon a beautiful meadow filled with fragrant flowers or a gushing waterfall with the perfect view! Nature never disappoints.
3. Try a new coffee shop.
You've heard rave reviews from that new coffee shop downtown. Isn't it time you give it a shot?
4. Visit with family.
While you're at school, you don't get to see much of these guys. Carve out some time in your Spring Break fun to include them in your next adventure. I'm sure you miss them, and they miss you. Family time is the best time.
5. Find a rockin' new outfit.
Go to the mall, your favorite boutique, or even try thrifting. Find a new outfit that turns heads when you get back to school.
6. Find some new music.
There's always some funky fresh beats out there you haven't discovered yet. When you find it, I triple dog dare you to blast it with the windows down and sing at the top of your lungs.
7. Catch up with friends.
If you and your high school friends are home during Spring Break, it's time to reunite! You're all out there killing it at life, and the new tales will mix with the memories. It'll be just like old times.
8. Go to the lake/river.
This is probably the next best thing to the beach. Grab some fishing poles and your sunglasses. You'll be glad you did.
9. Find a new restaurant.
Just drive around until you find the greasiest hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Those are typically the best. Not to mention, you'll be able to tell your survival story to your grandchildren.
10. Change something up.
Get a new hair-do, some fresh ink (if that's your thing), new makeup or even pierce something.
11. Have the time of your freaking life.
Don't be discouraged if you didn't have stellar plans for the break before you left school. Make some of your own while you're on the run. They don't have to be perfect, they just have to be fun.
It's Spring Break. Anything is possible. Go out and conquer the world, but please be safe. Take care of yourself and your friends. This is the beginning of the end of this semester; let's go out with a bang!
