Spring Break in Las Vegas from the Perspective of an Under 21 Year Old

You Don't Have to be 21 to Have Fun in Sin City

Spring Break in Las Vegas from the Perspective of an Under 21 Year Old

Spring Break is what every college kid looks forward to. In the past two years I stayed up at school and worked (not exactly the most exciting break). So this year, I decided to go somewhere fun. I ended up choosing Las Vegas and was so excited to go! The only thing I hadn’t thought about was that I am still under 21. I had friends going to Vegas too, but it hadn’t occurred to me that they are all legal drinking age and I am not. This is where being one of the youngest in your grade truly sucks. However, despite this roadblock, I managed to make my spring break in Vegas one of the best breaks I have had.

First of all, never underestimate the power of sun. I go to school up north where there are monstrous snowstorms and freezing temperatures. Being able to sit by the pool all day just soaking up some rays was one of the best things I could do for my spirit and my color. Unfortunately, I had forgotten how I pale I had become living in a winter wonderland and burned pretty badly, however, I am willing to overlook that part. It is true that vitamin D does wonders for your mood. The entire trip I could not be brought down. I was constantly smiling and enjoying myself as well as all that Sin City had to offer.

Secondly, the people watching is phenomenal. It is entertaining to see all kinds of people walking the strip. Especially when it seemed I was the only sober person in the entire city. From the outfit choices to the phrases escaping vacationers lips it is quite the experience to sit at an outdoor restaurant and just take in the sights.

I thoroughly enjoyed running into friends I had no idea were there. At one point, I was walking up the strip to get back to my hotel and was scared by a singing Elvis. I then promptly received a text from a friend stating she just saw me get the hell scared out of me by this guy. It was slightly embarrassing, but I was happy to know that me freaking out on the street made her laugh. There were people I recognized from school everywhere. Many of my friends and I tried to meet up, but our schedules never seemed to work out, which just meant we were all busy soaking up all Vegas has to offer.

Walking around in Las Vegas, you get your exercise in. Traveling up and down the Las Vegas strip for five days really gets your workout in. I would check my step count every day and was floored by how much I had walked. I guess it doesn’t really seem like you are doing that much activity when you are walking through the hotels, shopping at places where shoes cost more than your rent and generally exploring all the city has to offer.

Even though I did not get to experience the “typical” Las Vegas spring break, I still had an incredible time. I cannot wait until I can go back and try out all of the adult things I missed out on this time around. Regardless of the age problem, sitting in the sun and exploring this oasis in the dessert will remain one of my favorite trips. I have taken away more memories than souvenirs (which I count myself lucky for) and will always hold Spring Break 2016 in high regard. Thank you Las Vegas for showing me sparkling lights, crazy outfits, interesting architecture, beautiful shows and that wearing sunscreen is always a good idea. Knowing I have to go back to the below freezing temperatures and responsibilities is saddening, but the great thing about spring break is that the semester is almost over, and I can make it another six weeks.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
