It's the week college students look forward to the entire school year. The week that tends to carry a scandalous connotation with its name. The week that many college students pack up their bags and head to the beach. Some know it as the best week ever and all know it as Spring Break. I am a senior in college and most of my peers are headed to the beach or other exotic locations for the week. Unlike my peers, I am headed home for Spring Break and am surprisingly content with that. I'm not sure that my friends understand how content I am with going home because they keep trying to find ways for me to come on spring break with them. I know they mean well but there are many reasons why I am content with going home and here are a few of them:
1. I am saving money.
Honestly, this is probably the biggest draw to going home for Spring Break. I don't have a ton of money to spend in general right now, so knowing that I'm going home makes my bank account extra happy.
2. FREE FOOD!!!!
This goes along with saving money, but what college student doesn't love free food??? I'm going home where mom and dad will gladly provide for my hunger needs.
3. Ample amounts of alone time.
Don't get me wrong, I am very extroverted and I LOVE being with people, but I really, really value my alone time. In college, it is often hard to find time to be alone, so going home provides that for me.
4. Getting caught up on anything and everything.
Spring break can be a time to relax, but it can also be a time to get caught up with life. Going home provides the perfect setup for productivity!
5. The comfort of sleeping in your own bed.
I don't know about you, but my bed at home is one of my favorite places to be. If you need me, you can find me curled up in a ball under the sheets in my bed.
6. You don't have to impress anyone.
Just hanging out with mom, dad and the dogs tonight, ladies and gents. I might not put makeup on all week and I will probably wear the same shirt 3 days in a row, but who's counting, right?
7. Few things beat the feeling of coming home.
Home is more than a building, it is a feeling. A sense of comfort and familiarity that I crave so much at this time of the year. Home really is where the heart is.
So, to answer your questions and pleads, I am very excited about going home for spring break. If you need me, you can find me at the park hanging in my hammock, looking at your snapchat stories and liking your Instagram posts. Have fun without me because I truly am happy where I am!
