Spring Break is on the rise and the endless amounts of spring break #2k16 posts will soon be flooding our feeds. Even though we constantly discuss possible plans with our friends, google image tropical beaches, and consider potential destinations, the hype of Spring Break never truly lives up to the expectation. While we are tempted to think "FINALLY a long break to relax after three months of being on the go", things just seem to pile up and get in the way of the crazy Spring Break we imagined. However, it is not always for the worst. What we end up doing over Spring Break looks and sounds a lot more like the following...

1. Returning Home

Sure, after we are amped up from the month off of school due to Winter Break we picture a wild Spring Break full of vacation spots, concerts, and long nights somewhere with our best friends. Yet, when the time actually comes and midterms are over and done with we want nothing more than our own bed and home cooked meals. Where better to turn than family and the comfort of your own home? Simply nowhere.

2. Sleep

While the thought of sipping fruity drinks on the beach is nice, the thought of sleep takes the cake. Always. Unless it is past one o'clock in the afternoon, the idea of facing the public is slim to none.

3. Eating... A lot

The Spring Break bod is no longer needed, and that only means one thing. Who needs to diet in the comfort of their own home? What is the use in trying to look good for your dog? Nothing. And it's never felt so good. Conveniently, the pantry will be packed tight with welcome home snacks that have our names written all over them like Doritos and Double Stuffed Oreos.

4. FaceTiming

While we would love to think during Spring Break we will catch up with old friends from home, our favorite high school teachers, and neighbors, it is time to be realistic. Spring Break is a week long, and to be honest, those activities are too social for our liking. On the other hand though, a full week without seeing our roommates? No chance. FaceTiming through meals, driving, walking the dog, and pretty much wherever is necessary.

5. Catching Up On Netflix

Fuller House? Jane the Virgin? Where did these new shows come from? The overwhelming combination of school work and our social lives has taken precedent over our devotion to Netflix, and Spring Break is the time to apologize. There is no shame in binge watching without even seeing the light of day until being all caught up.

.

6. Counting Down The Days Back To School

Lastly, by the end of the week we are more than ready to go back to school. Completely rested and recharged. The rest of the semester looks promising and our lazy Spring Break is to thank.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
