The 11 Dos And Don'ts Of Your Upcoming Spring Break

I would say warm weather is finally upon us, but unless you are going somewhere down south for your upcoming spring break, the rest of us will be happily napping in the twenty-degree weather. Speaking of napping, which is an essential component of every college student's spring break, here are all the things you should definitely do during your blissful week away from school, and also a list of things you definitely should not make a habit of.

1. DO get plenty of rest during the night, but DO NOT sleep all day and all night

Sleep is the first thing everyone is going to want after a stressful Midterms week, but trust me, there is nothing worse than a week of a laid back sleeping schedule and then suddenly jumping right back into early alarm clocks. Keep your body on a clock.

2. DO eat three balanced meals but DO NOT eat a bunch of junk food at the closest McDonald’s to your house

It is always going to be the easiest and cheapest meal, but it definitely won't feel like a good decision a couple of hours later.

3. DO go through your school supplies and organize your thoughts, but DO NOT throw your backpack in the closet for the whole week

Don't ignore that reading assignment your teacher gave you, instead take the bull by the horns and organize your notes that you'll need for the rest of the semester.

4. DO try to exercise more and DO NOT continuously watch Netflix into the depths of the night

It's almost too easy to never move from that couch crease you have created.

5. DO try to keep your same schedule pattern and DO NOT forget about your schedule

Like I previously mentioned with sleeping, keeping your body used to the clock it's on is the most important thing this break. You don't want to jump back into things feeling lagged and exhausted.

6. DO visit your friends and family and DO NOT sit in your childhood room all break

Your friends and family missed you those last few months, if you're going to be home, might as well grab some lunch.

7. DO make a spending budget for yourself and DO NOT mindlessly spend money without considering next month’s rent

Know how much you want to spend this break on everything from gas, food, clothes, or souvenirs. Keeping a clear budget in mind will save your wallet later.

8. DO make time for your family and DO NOT only hang out with your friends all break

Friends are always fun to see, but remember your parents haven't seen you since Christmas. They missed you too.

9. DO spend quality time with your pets and DO NOT leave the house all day without them

But you know who missed you more than anyone else? Your favorite good boy.

10. DO give yourself personal care time and DO Not spread yourself too thin with constant company

Seeing everyone can get time-consuming, so make sure you are giving yourself time to relax and indulge in the true meaning of a break.

11. DO give yourself a full day to get back into the school head space and DO NOT extend your break until the last two hours of the night before the first day back

Ending break early will always be the hardest task in the world, but trust me, that extra day to get back into school mode will make a world of difference.

Some of these dos and don'ts may sound silly or repetitive, but it is still highly important to keep each one of these tasks in mind throughout your break. Take this time to recharge and clear your mind, but also extra time to focus on your studies. Whether that week feels like only a day or an eternity, use it to your benefit that DOES NOT involve becoming a couch potato.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
