Spring break is a time of the year that all college students look forward to. It is a time when students prepare to engage in shenanigans. In order to engage in shenanigans successfully, it takes a lot of planing and preparation. Yes, proper planning is necessary because it can either make or break spring break.
According to FoxNews, top spring break locations are: Panama City Beach, Florida; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; Las Vegas, Nevada; Miami Beach, Florida; Cancun, Mexico; South Padre Island, Texas; and New Orleans, Louisana. With all of the tempting locations it is important to have safe travels and to be aware of your surroundings while on spring break.
1. Have a workout plan. Are you ready? (Get like Nike and "Just do it.")
A wise friend of mine said that, when preparing for spring break, gym workouts should actually start in the winter. Starting ahead of time will help people accomplish their goals and alleviate stress. Going to the gym can also be fun and it's a cool way to meet people who are trying to accomplish similar goals. The key to gym workouts is creating a plan that works for you (both a workout and an eating plan) and being consistent with this plan.
2. Make sure that you have the right people.
This process may be difficult, but it doesn't have to be if spring breakers keep one thing in mind. When choosing people, make sure this is a "down" group of individuals, meaning that these people are willing to roll with the punches when making plans. In other words, these individuals should be spontaneous and care free. When on spring break no type of "debbie-downer" is necessary. If they fit this description, tell them to stay home.
3. Perfect your signature dance move(s).
Whether it is one move or several, perfect it and add your own spin on it. This will make it original and more creative, instead of just taking what is done on TV and replicating it.
4. Enjoy yourself at all times.
Try to make the best of every situation and let no one kill your vibe. Not every event will go as planned. When this happens you should make the best of it. Having a plan A, B, and C will help and will sometimes save the night.
Along with the suggestions mentioned above, it is crucial to have the actual logistics of the trip planned out. For example, having a place to stay is critical whether its a hotel, condo, or relative (if you're lucky). You also need affordable transportation to and from the airport and to and from other events. Taxis may be too expensive to take, depending on how far away the hotel is, so Uber may be an great alternative. Another important factor is figuring out what to eat daily. Going to eat at restaurants every night may be too expensive. Therefore, choosing where to eat is crucial if you are not trying to go broke. Lastly, what events will you participate in? Certain clubs will be very expensive, especially if celebrities are attending that night. Picking and choosing events depends on the budget of the group. Being knowledgeable about various clubs and outings will be useful, especially when in large groups of people. Everyone's budget may vary.
Spring break is rapidly approaching. With that being said, early preparation is key. Early preparation is especially a good thing for college, because this will allow opportunities for lower prices. With all of this in mind, the most important thing will always be safety while having fun.
