Why We Should Be Excited For The 2017 Spring Semester
Eleanor Boden

The first full week of the spring semester has come to a close and....WE MADE IT! I think the first week back, along with the last week before break are always the hardest.

To me, the first week back is one of the hardest times because you have to get back into the swing of things. As a dance major who didn't do too much dancing over the break, my body had to get back into things and let me tell you, it has not been that fun. However, I know that it is all worth it and part of getting back into things. Just as getting used to a new class schedule, what buildings and rooms your classes are in, getting up and actually going to class on time, and figuring out where you want to sit (because lets face it, once we claim a seat, it's ours for the rest of the semester and we will glare at you if you sit in it) are part of a new semester.

The first week can feel like it drags on forever or it can seem like it goes by super fast. I think for most of us though, it seems to go by super fast, I know for me it sure does. It's crazy to me that week two will be starting and I'll be that much closer to the end of this semester. I am trying to take everything in, from enjoying the classes that I have with my friends (p.s. love you guys!) to not being afraid to participate in other classes that I normally might have been afraid to.

I'm thoroughly excited to see what the rest of this semester holds and I encourage you to feel the same. We have the rest of our lives to worry about what comes next, enjoy what's going on around you here and now and get ready to kick this semester's butt!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
