With sorority recruitment right around the corner, I thought I would find out what makes each sorority stand out from the pack.
This week, I interviewed Rachel Stern, the president of Alpha Omicron Pi. I got to know a little about their triumphant third place at THON 2014, as well as why you should consider rushing a sorority!
When and where was AOPi founded? January 2, 1897 at Barnard
College in New York City.
What
are your colors? We only have one color, cardinal!
Symbols? Sheaf.
Why did
you want to be president? I wanted to be president so that I
could make a positive impact on my chapter and empower my sisters to get more
involved within the sorority. Involvement strikes passion, and I
just want everyone to be as passionate about Alpha Omicron Pi as I am.
Favorite
moment in your sisterhood so far? My favorite moment was when we
got third place amongst all Greek organizations in THON 2014. Not only was this
a really proud moment because of what we had just raised for the kids, but it also truly
bonded us as a sisterhood.
Why are
you proud to be an Alpha Omicron Pi? I’m proud to
be an AOPi because of the lifelong friendships and amazing memories that have
emerged from being part of this sorority. I truly couldn’t imagine
myself being in any other sorority. I encourage anyone interested in
rushing a sorority to go through recruitment and, hopefully, have as positive of
an experience as I had!
