What SpongeBob SquarePants Has Taught Me

Is mayonnaise an instrument?

103

SpongeBob SquarePants and friends actually had a lot to teach us through the goofy episodes over the years. You may have overlooked it because Squidward isn't wearing pants, because Mr. Krab's has a daughter who is a whale or because Spongebob showers underwater but that's minor details. Some of the lessons are pretty valuable while others are just funny but yet relatable for many. I don't know about you but I loved watching SpongeBob... and quite honestly I still love watching it. Enjoy my fellow yellow sponge lovers.

1. You're never too old to get kisses from Grandma.

Sure you might be at that age where you don't think it's cool anymore but trust me (and SpongeBob) when I say that it's totally cool.

2. Find a job you are passionate about & you'll never work a day in your life.

Was there ever a day where SpongeBob complained, grumbled or hit the snooze button? Negative.

3. Be the best kind of best friend you can be & you'll always have that person in your life.

SpongeBob and Patrick show us what a true friendship is, what it will endure and how wonderful it is to have a best friend for life.

4. Always be early or time.

5. It's okay to cry.

Sometimes our emotions get the best of us and that's perfectly alright. Let those tears flow and you can even make a sweater out of your tears if you're crafty enough.

6. Take control of your life & "firmly grasp it".

7. It's okay to self indulge on the things you love every now & then.

We all have at least one weak spot for a certain kind of food.

8. But try & have a little self control.

Remember a minute on your lips... forever on your hips.

9. Never give up.

Even if it means doing something over & over & over & over...

10. It's okay to take a night to yourself & stay in.

We all need space from the outside world sometimes. Snuggle up with your favorite blanket, pop some corn and binge on Netflix. Or sing a duet with the penny in your pocket.

11. Don't grow up, it's a trap.

Being an adult is NOT what it's cracked up to be.

12. Be a good neighbor.

13. There's never a bad time to wear a striped sweater.

14. Always tell the truth, no matter who it might upset.

15. It's important to workout!

16. However... the gym isn't for everybody.

17. Always pack (or wear) extra underwear.

You can never have too much.

18. Go out with your friends and let loose.

Take a ride on the wild side for the night. Do it, I dare you.

19. Be confident and proud of your body.

If you've got it, flaunt it.

20. Life is too short so live simple & laugh a lot.

Turn that frown upside down, get out there & enjoy life!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
