10 Reasons Why The "Supernatural" Fandom Is The Best
The CW

In case you didn't know, I absolutely love The CW's "Supernatural." I've only been a fan for about a year and a half, but it's been around since 2005 and it's still going strong both on and off the television screen. So, in honor of the premiere of season 12 on Thursday (yes, you read that right: season 12), here are a few reasons why the "Supernatural" fandom is the best fandom.

1. Loyal fans have kept the show alive for almost 12 years.

Most people think that 12 seasons of "Supernatural" is at least five seasons too many, but fans just keep tuning in and begging for more. Sure, the ratings dropped almost 13 percent since 2015, but this is still a lot better than most of the other shows that premiere on The CW in the fall. Even now, it's beating shows that are nearly half its age and younger. If that's not impressive, I don't know what is.

2. The actors are still passionate about what they do.

Instead of seeing the show as work, they like to goof around on set, which probably makes filming a lot more fun. They're all great friends, so it's safe to assume their passion for "Supernatural" will never fade.

3. We have a GIF for everything, and I mean EVERYTHING.

The show has been around for so long that there are probably enough scenes and quotes that apply to anything and everything. There's a reason why the "Supernatural" fandom has such a huge presence on Tumblr!

4. There is never a shortage of good merchandise.

From T-shirts to jewelry to figurines to MONOPOLY, you can find pretty much anything "Supernatural" from your local Hot Topic. You don't even need the internet for this one; Hot Topic literally always has "Supernatural" stuff.

5. The fandom and the show itself still appeal to younger audiences.

I was nine years old when "Supernatural" started, so there's no possible way that I would've watched it when it first started. My parents watched it for a while; I remember seeing it recorded on our DVR. I finally started watching it on Netflix during the spring of my first year of college, and I was hooked! With the easy access to Netflix and other streaming websites, it's no wonder that "Supernatural" is gaining new fans every day.

6. We take it as a compliment when people say "you're going to Hell" or when we're compared to the devil.

This sounds super weird, but trust me. If you got to know Lucifer (and Crowley, aka the new King of Hell), you'd probably feel the same.

7. We always seem to run into each other on the internet.

We really are everywhere, not just on Tumblr. I'm constantly seeing people who changed their last name to "Winchester" on Facebook, and their profile pictures and cover photos having something to do with "Supernatural." Other than Tumblr, we like to post "Supernatural" things on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, even if the original post had nothing to do with "Supernatural." Especially if the original post had nothing to do with "Supernatural."

8. We're not offended when people make fun of "Supernatural."

If you don't like it, you do you. We honestly don't care. We already know it's amazing, and we have each other. Just because you tell us "Supernatural" sucks doesn't mean we'll change our minds!

(Let's just appreciate Brendon Urie in this GIF... He's got our attitude towards "Supernatural" haters down to a T.)

9. The fandom is like a big family.

I already said this in number eight, but we really do have each other when it comes to "Supernatural." #SPNFamily

10. The actors truly care about their fans and vice versa.

Last year, Jared Padalecki spoke up about mental health (he suffers from anxiety and depression) and started a campaign called "Always Keep Fighting." Not long after, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins started a crisis support campaign called "You Are Not Alone." Both were extremely successful, raising a lot of money through T-shirt sales. With these campaigns, they really helped their fans (and more) while their fans helped them by supporting the campaign. They use their fame for good, and this is part of what makes them so special. If it weren't for them, "Supernatural" probably wouldn't have survived as long as it has. They are truly amazing people, and we love them for that. It's just incredible what one show can create.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
