There are spoilers ahead for this film!

As a huge Marvel fan, when I first saw the preview for "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse", I didn't know what to think. I love Tom Holland as Spider-Man in the Avengers, so I couldn't imagine watching a Spider-Man movie without him that didn't follow that storyline. But still, since it was Marvel and Spider-Man, I figured I would give it a shot.

I actually really enjoyed watching this movie, way more than I thought I would. Miles Morales, the main character, is intriguing, funny, and relatable, making him a good character to follow through the story.

His relationship with Peter Parker is also really good. I was afraid in the beginning that it would form too fast like many friendships tend to do in films, but that didn't happen here. Peter and Miles have a really good dynamic between them of the teacher and the student, and that aspect makes it an interesting relationship that develops throughout the film.

I've also always been a fan of the multiverse aspect of comics, where they have multiple universes and worlds collide, which they did in this film.

They brought in five different versions of Spider-Man from the different worlds and they all worked together to defeat the big bad. It was interesting how they explained the life and the past of each different Spider-Man character as well, making them all very similar but very different as well.

Something else that I really enjoyed about this film was the animation. I've never seen any of the animated Marvel shows or movies, so I didn't know what to expect. But the animation on this one was really different. They made it look like a comic book was coming alive on screen, and I think it worked really well in the telling of the story.

They had multiple strips sometimes, like comic books, and they had the additional writing that usually shows up in each comic book square. These aspects made the film even more unique and interesting to watch.

The one thing I had an issue with was the fact that they made Miles' uncle a bad guy and just brushed over that fact. The reveal that the Prowler was actually Miles' seemingly caring uncle was a shocker, but it didn't last long. When his uncle got shot and was dying, instead of explaining why he was a bad guy, he and Miles shared a touching moment.

As someone who doesn't like plot holes or seeing something happen for seemingly no reason whatsoever, this really bugged me. They just acted as if it was normal that Miles' uncle was trying to kill him moments ago, and they never even addressed it afterward.

Regardless of that fact, I did really enjoy the film. It was funny, different, new, and made me care about the characters, something that is really important to me as a movie lover. They set it up to where there is a possible sequel, and I hope they go through with it, because I would really enjoy watching a storyline like the one from this film again.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
