Wouldn't it be great if our parents gave us spending money forever? Unfortunately, as soon as we're old enough to make money, they stop giving it. Sure, earning your own money is a rewarding experience, but as soon as you have a little, you spend a lot. Wanting to spend more money than you are making is a real struggle. And, of course everything nice is also super-expensive. Spending your parent's money is something we take for granted as kids. We only learn the true value of money when we have to spend our own.
Here are 10 reasons why spending your parent's money is so much better than spending your own money:
1. When your parents give you anything over $10 your feel like you have just won the lottery.
Half-priced apps on you!
2. Every time you make a purchase on your own, it is followed by a low balance alert from the bank.
Thank you for the reminder, as if I didn't already know I was poor.
3. When spending your own money you try your hardest to only pay the exact amount ... even if that means using 95 pennies instead of breaking another dollar.
You are every cashier's worst enemy
4. Buying food with your own money is such a waste when your parent's money can be used.
Tip: Complain you are hungry at least 12 times, and they'll feed you just to shut you up.
5. When spending you own money, the first thing you look at in a store is the price tag.
Any kind of sale is a good sale.
6. But, when shopping with your parent's money, sale racks don't look as appealing.
$50 for a shirt isn't that bad, right?!
7. When your parents ask you for change after giving you money, you have to give them the bad news ... there is none.
You really don't feel bad at all.
8. Spending your own money also requires working to earn back what you spent
That will probably get in the way of your sleeping schedule.
9. You would rather come up with elaborate excuses for money than use your own.
These lies require more thought than most tests.
10. ANYTHING is better than having an empty wallet.
Fun requires funds.
As you can see, spending your parent's money is the clear winner here. Spending your own money is never a fun activity. No matter how great the purchase, you'll still feel guilty for spending when you should have been saving. It took me years, but I finally learned that I should've saved all that money I spent on Barbies when I was younger.
