9 Perfect Ways To Spend Your Scottsdale Summer
My Realty Times

Once the temperature hits 110 degrees we start second guessing the importance of any errand that involves leaving the wonderful air-conditioned rooms of our homes. Other than vacationing internationally or retreating to Coronado Island, California, the summer seems to lack spontaneity and excitement. Here are a few ideas to keep your days cool.

1. Staycation

Scottsdale is clustered with more fabulous resorts than Lululemon bag sightings at the Scottsdale Quarter. Summer specials can be found at just about all of the relaxing resorts such as the Fairmont Princess, Gainey Hyatt, Omni Scottsdale Resort at the Montelucia, and The Westin Kierland. Take advantage of these top rated vacation destinations that include luxurious spas, cabanas by the pool, and extravagant restaurants just a few blocks away from your neighborhood.

2. Local Cuisine

Between Sam Fox Concept restaurants and drive-thru wonders such as The Stand, this city is the zenith of creative cuisine. Restaurants have transformed the average brunches and dinners into an experience for all customers. Destinations such as La Grande Orange, El Chorro, and The Henry are popular as well as Flower Child, Acardia Farms, and Postinos. Whether it’s a date night or a family affair, meals are made fun in Scottsdale.

3. Party on a Bike

Once you’re full from devouring street tacos and summer salads and want to feel good lounging in your swimsuit by the pool, try one of the high energy cycle classes offered by The Madison Improvement Club. “Party on a Bike” is exactly what it sounds like. Accompanied by a live DJ with all the latest tracks, the instructors motivate excitement, sweat and a great time from all who sign up. This is just one example of the many trendsetting cycle classes found around the valley.

4. Fossil Creek

Besides hiking the Camelback mountain or Pinnacle Peak, experience the beautiful waterfall trail on Fossil Creek. Located near Strawberry, Arizona, this Instagrammer's dream is literally flowing with nature’s beauty. Park your car at the base of the trail and adventure through the Coconino National Forest for a summer day worth remembering.

5. Old Town Food Tours

Soak in the rich food, wine, and history of Old Town Scottsdale through an all-inclusive walking tour. In three hours you will visit and sample six different shops that may include a winery, sweets shop, trendy restaurant or even an old saloon. This experience will open your eyes to the wild west and establishment of our very own city as well as the many changes it has overcome. Come taste some food, relax and explore your neighborhood.

6. Sedona for the day

Just a two-hour drive away, try visiting a red rock wonderland. Filled with eclectic shops, full-service resorts, and aura readings, this artsy community is literally nestled in between massive red rock formations. Take the famous Pink Jeep Tours or hike along one of the many trails and soak in the good vibes.

7. Railroad Park Free Concerts

Bring friends and family and enjoy the warm summer nights at the McCormick- Stillman Railroad Park. A variety of local bands is lined up for every Sunday night along with food and train rides. All you need is to bring a comfy blanket or lawn chair to complete the experience.

8. Ballet Performances and Concerts at the Desert Botanical Garden

The Arizona Ballet takes naturally beautiful to a whole new level with their outdoor performance in the gardens. Upon a 360-degree stage, the performance “marries the artistry of ballet and the magnificence of nature in one immersive and thrilling evening”. In addition, Friday nights welcome various concerts with performers from all over the valley and also range in various genres of music. Whether you prefer to watch art or listen to it, the Desert Botanical Garden offers many opportunities for you to experience their alluring venue.

9. Sweet Spot

Let’s face it, we all have a sweet tooth that cannot be fixed this summer. Luckily, the Sugar Bowl, AJ’s, and Nothing Bundt Cakes are just a few of the plentiful shops ready to relieve our cravings. The 1950’s diner style feel of the Sugar Bowl completes the experience filled with shakes, malts, sundaes and all treats in between. AJ’s famous iced teas and massive bakery case serve as the perfect stop for any quick craving. Even bundtinis are a fan favorite from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Found at birthday parties and showers, these bite-sized gifts from god can make any day sweeter.

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
