Attention all "James" Bond fans: It is time to get excited about the upcoming release of the newest Bond film, "Spectre." "Spectre will be Daniel Craig’s fourth appearance as Bond, and it will be the 24th "James Bond" movie produced by Eon Productions. The film will also star other famous actors including Academy Award winning Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Naomie Harris and Monica Bellucci.
The film follows Bond as he comes in contact with the global criminal agency known as SPECTRE, which is an acronym for Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion. Bond’s encounter with SPECTRE is a result of a cryptic and final assignment left by M, former head of MI6, after her death. Also, MI6 faces political pressures that endanger its future endeavors. Meanwhile, Bond realizes that the only way to help MI6 is to protect Madeleine Swann (played by Seydoux), the daughter of a powerful enemy.
Like every other "Bond" movie, the film features many beautiful locations, including Mexico, Italy, Austria and Morocco. The film will also come with a signature song, like Adele’s “Skyfall” for the last "James Bond" movie. In September 2015, Sony announced that Sam Smith had written the song “Writing’s on the Wall” as the film’s theme. Smith recorded the piece himself, and it was released to the public later that month.
Early critiques of "Spectre" have given the film pretty positive reviews overall. Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a rating of 83 percent. According to Wikipedia, the critics raved about the film’s opening scene, action sequence and stunt work.
Hollywood Reporter Stephen Dalton told Rotten Tomatoes, “In pure action adventure terms, 'Spectre' delivers the goods, with plenty of revved-up supercar porn and several kinetic high-speed chase sequences on road, river and snowy mountain slope.”
Guy Lodge wrote in Variety that the movie is a “wealth of iconography -- both incidental and integral -- from the series' founding chapters is revived here, making 'Spectre' a particular treat for 007 nerds, and a businesslike blast for everyone else.”
Despite its good reviews, there were some critics who found "Spectre" repetitive. David Sexton, reporter for This Is London, told his readers that the film was a “Bond that, for all its grandiose production values, is little more than an anthology of previous Bonds, a palimpsest even, to be fancier about it.”
Daniel Craig has also given his honest opinion about the film, as well as the James Bond character in general. Craig recently told Esquire, that he does not have plans to do another Bond movie: “At the moment I can’t even conceive it… At this moment, no. I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit.”
So my advice is go out and see "Spectre," because it might be your last chance to see Craig in the Bond role. "Spectre" hits theaters everywhere Nov. 6.
