Sometimes change can be a good thing. I've found that I love to write about things that I feel strongly about. For me, writing about the way I feel is what not only helps me, but is something that others can relate to as well. So, I guess that this has become my writing style. Except, sometimes it's okay to branch out of your comfort zone. And sometimes after doing the same sort of thing over and over again, we need to try something new. Well, that need for new eventually happens to us. In my case, it happened this past week. With that being said, I tried something new: poetry. Here is my attempt at it. Enjoy!
Sweet sounds fill the underground passageway
But people only see
Cable cars moving from one stop to another
Taking them to places where they must be.
As he stands in a dimly lit corner and continues to play his song
People pass him by
Too absorbed in life to stop and hear the tune’s serenity
The boy is left with only a sigh
He stands and embraces this spot each and every day
Hoping that someone will stop and take a minute to listen
To pause life for only one moment
To listen to the beautiful cry of the violin’s strings
But time never seems to stop
People rush around in a chaotic frenzy, like feathers floating around in the gusty air
Never taking a minute to realize the little things happening around them
Only leaving the young musician full of despair
What more is left to say or do?
But the boy refuses to stop playing his song, never giving up
He continues to create a sound like no other, his own sound
When suddenly, a figure halts in his tracks and tosses a few coins into the young lad’s cup
One man out of many stopped life around him
To listen to the boy’s soulful tones
Maybe it was only for one moment in time before continuing on with his own journey
But the time had come when the boy’s music touched another and someone allowed himself to just let go and listen to a life’s luscious song
Something the musician had yearned for so very long.
