Sorority Sugar: The Best Sorority Tumblr

If you haven't been living under a rock for the last couple of months, you should sororities across the country have been making blogs on Tumblr specifically for their chapter.

If you haven't been living under a rock for the past five years, then you sho know that Tumblr is a blogging website (Or in my opinion, Pintrest for geeks). I have to admit that the whole "sororities on Tumblr" craze is pretty cool. The Texas Tech chapter of Alpha Delta Pi has one and I assume the other ten Panhellenic sororities do too. However, the best sorority blog isn't specific to one chapter or one sorority; it's actually Sorority Sugar!

Sorority Sugar was founded in the summer of 2011 by an Arizona State University alum (name and Greek affiliation remains anonymous) who was involved not only with her sorority, but also the school's fraternities. Sorority Sugar's topics range "From Bid Day to Grad Day" and everything in between! One of my favorite aspects of sorority sugar is that it features all 26 Panhellenic Sororities (Yes guys, there are more than 11 sororities out there). If you're curious about which sorority our happy little community will get in the future (Which nobody knows about), you can creep on the different Panhellenic Sororities it features (Let's just say I've been creeping on the one that works with Autism Speaks). What's also really great is that Sorority Sugar even features non NPC sororites like Sigma Phi Lambda (I would put a certain Agricultural Sorority, but apparently they do not allow NPC women #stillbitter)!

Another totally great aspect of Sorority Sugar is that the Admin has a Q&A for many members of the Tumblr community. The questions range from PNMs asking what to wear during recruitment to Seniors asking what kind of grad pictures they should take! Some of my favorite questions are from transfer students and sophomores who are nervous about going though Formal Recruitment. For example:

Q: I'm rushing as a sophomore. Do you think it's appropriate to mention extracurriculars and awards from high school? Or should I just focus on my involvement during my freshman year?

A: Absolutely mention your FULL resume of accomplishments!! All the freshman PNMs will be doing that and you don’t want your personal history to look skimpy. You probably did more in HS than your first year of college anyway. Your rush application is like a job resume, you don’t just list your most recent position, you share all of your past jobs and skills. Paint the complete picture of your activities, volunteering, leadership, club membership and sports from from both your high school days and your one year of college. A sophomore registration should be fuller than a freshman’s ~ not less than. Please shine as brightly as any other PNM and share every fantastic qualification you can. That’s the only way the sororities can start getting to know all about YOU! xoxo ;) (sororitysugar.tumblr.com/tagged/sophomore)

If you're like me and you are OBSESSED with buying your sorority's merch, then click on S.S.'s Pref Sorority Shopping Links. Like Stefan from Saturday Night Live says, "It has EVERYTHING"! Some new and noteworthy links are Red's Rabbit (created by Frat guys from TCU) and GreekU.com. Just a little tidbit about Red's Rabbit; They have some high quality accessories! They're still a young company, so don't expect all 11 of our sororities to be on there, unless you're a DG, Chi O, Tri Delt, or Pi Phi.

Seriously, if your chapter has a Tumblr page and you're not following Sorority Sugar, you're doing something wrong.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
