Greek life is no stranger to criticism. Many do not understand the true meaning and intent of it and create stereotypes that are nothing less than unfair. To slap a label on someone and place them in a tiny box based simply off of the letters they wear on their t-shirt is both ignorant and cruel. So, hear me out.
I am a sorority girl, but I am not superficial.
I am a sorority girl, and I am a leader.
I am a sorority girl, and I have big goals and aspirations for my future.
I am a sorority girl, and school is my top priority.
I am a sorority girl, and I am a dedicated and involved student.
I am a sorority girl, and I care about the values my chapter holds.
I am a sorority girl, and I am not in it just for the socialization.
I am a sorority girl, and I am not shallow.
I am a sorority girl, and I am not conceited.
I am a sorority girl, and I am not fake.
I am a sorority girl, and I am not close-minded.
I am a sorority girl, and I am intelligent.
I am a sorority girl, and I care about so much more than parties on the weekends.
I am a sorority girl, and I am not interested in making friends exclusively within my sorority.
I am a sorority girl, I am not solely concerned about the pictures I post on my social media.
I am a sorority girl, and I did not buy my friends.
I love being a part of Greek life. Through my sorority, I have met incredible people, created connections, and made countless memories. I get to be involved on campus and be part of something bigger than myself. If Greek life isn't for you, that's completely fine. However, I ask that you always take the time to get to know someone before you write them off. You just might be surprised.
