Fall recruitment is right around the corner, and sorority girls across the nation have already been preparing for months. What outfits to wear, what songs to sing, and most importantly what new sisters you're going to gain are all being discussed. Although they were in high school, Cady, Regina, Karen, and Gretchen perfectly described the recruitment process.
Months before, you make a plan to look as amazing as ever in your recruitment outfits.
Just to realize the night before that you didn't work out all summer.
You get together with all your friends to shop because every outfit in your closet just won't cut it.
And you get a good night sleep because recruitment is finally here.
You're not quite sure what to expect at first, but immediately feel overwhelmed walking into your first party to a room full of screaming and singing sorority girls.
You easily start to feel at home when the girl who picked you up expresses how cute your dress is.
But you get totally uncomfortable all over again when you get asked that one question you just really aren't sure how to answer.
As the day goes on, you meet more and more houses. Some of them you immediately bond with.
And others, you quickly realize, just aren't the girls for you.
After a long and exhausting day full of answering the same questions over and over, you wake up the next day feeling fully renewed and optimistic.
You shake with excitement and fear as you open up the paper that says which houses you still have or don't, just to scan it over and over again to unfortunately not see the name of your top house. There's a sudden moment of shock and disbelief.
Then, just down right despair.
Quick to your rescue is your recruitment counselor who assures you to just "trust the system" and very sneakily changes the subject to get your mind off things.
After taking a moment to recover, you walk into pref day with a newly open mind. You see a mock-tail at the table which begs you to ask the question:
You do it just to get a face of horror and shock because how dare you mention alcohol during recruitment.
As the week comes to a finish, it's finally bid day. You open up your bid card to realize you're exactly where you're supposed to be. Everyone is running and screaming with excitement realizing who their new sisters are while onlookers stare in confusion.
While you run to your home with open arms and girls exclaiming, "Welcome home," the crazy and exhausting week you just endured suddenly becomes worth it. You couldn't be more happy.
Because no matter how stressful recruitment may be, remember, "it's not four years, it's for life," and the possibilities are endless.
