A lot of people think sororities are superficial, but this is the best experience I’ve ever had. There are some words to help explain why this experience has been so great, but there are no words that can explain exactly how thankful I am to be a part of the best sorority in the world.
Dear Sorority,
When I was just a PNM a few months ago, I couldn’t even imagine what life as a sorority girl would look like. My parents were not involved in Greek life, and this whole concept was foreign to me. Fast-forward to four months later, and I can’t even imagine what life would be like without you. The last four months have been amazing. Filled with new friendships, stronger existing friendships, new experiences, new places, new responsibilities, and so much more, the time spent with you, my dear sorority, has been the best time of my life.
At first, I was hesitant to go through recruitment. I didn’t know what to expect. I had heard the "goods" and the "bads" of sorority life, but with this information overload, my mind was confused. I was confused. What if I didn’t like being in a sorority? What if it took too much of my time? What if everything was superficial? Why would you want to join a sorority? These are all questions that I was asked when I told my parents I was considering rushing. Once I met you, though, my dear sorority, everything changed. You were the first house I went to, and even with the overwhelming emotions of going through recruitment, I knew that you were what I wanted. Bid day was the best day of college I’d had. The pure excitement of everyone around me was thrilling. I couldn’t wait to start this new chapter of college.
Pledging you, my dear sorority, has indeed proven to be one of the best decisions I’ve made in my 18 years of life. You have been there through the good and the bad. You have given me friendships that will truly last a lifetime. You have opened my eyes to new experiences. You have given me the best Big I could ask for, the best sisters I could imagine. You’ve outdone yourself, my dear sorority, with everything that you do every day. You have brought an amazing group of girls together and allowed them to bond, laugh, cry, and do so much more together. I really could not ask for more.
To my sisters of Kappa Kappa Gamma, I love you all so much and could not imagine my life without you. You make me a better person every day. Here’s to the experiences we’ve had and a lifetime of experiences to come.
XOXO,
A sorority girl
