7 'Thank Yous' My Roommates Deserve

Dear roomies,
This thank you is long overdue, and there are a million things that belong in this letter, but I'll hopefully cover most of my bases. You guys were incredible this year, and though I'm never serious with how I feel about you guys, I'm super grateful to have spent this year with you three and feel super lucky to have you guys as friends.

1. Thank you for always being down to go on crazy, arguably stupid, adventures.

2. Thank you for always coming to my work shifts (even if it was just for the cheap drinks).

3. Thank you for always knowing when my exams were, and wishing me luck beforehand.

4. Thank you for the Sunday morning dance parties, when we are all still feeling the aftermath of the night before.

5. Thank you for the uncontrollable laughs.

6. Thank you for dealing with my drunk crying. And also, my sober crying.

7. Thank you for dealing with me being late to literally everything.

Thank you all for being you. You guys changed my life for the better, and I couldn't have asked for a better sophomore year. You guys are the best, and I miss you already. 602 forever.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines.
