If you are reading this, somehow we made to the next year of college. All I can say is wow, oh wow, we made it! I cannot believe that it is summer, and you have two years or four semesters left. Looking back, we went through a lot, and I am sure it has made us better.
August seems like a million years ago, but Bid Day seems like just yesterday. First semester may have had been a little rough, but you got some amazing friends out of it. You finally learned what a true friend is and how to not to be so stubborn.
It seems like sophomore year is where you blossomed into your strengths and learned how to adapt to your weaknesses. You realized that just because you want it, does not necessarily mean you will get it. You have learned how to take rejection and better yourself from it. You have finally gotten the two or three “yeses” that will now open so many more doors for you.
You have gained more responsibilities and have learned how to balance a heavier plate. You now have two humans that have stolen your heart and love you unconditionally. Even when they call you at two in the morning needing a ride, you go to them no matter what. Come next August/September you will see how well your parenting has paid off when they get their own little human. You have learned how to put others in front of yourself.
Studying is just as boring, but now you kind of know how to study better. You know that classes are less studying and more beating the teacher in their own game. Going to class is an actual thing for most classes. Finding Quizlets, using Noteswap and making study groups are essential if you want to have an edge.
Boys still suck, and they probably will suck till you are 100. It is OK though—that is why they make wine of the month clubs and dogs exist. No boy is worth your tears or heartbreak; not even the “perfect frat boy.”
All in all, this year has been pretty solid and hey, you made it to the finish line. Whatever mistakes you have made, you have two more years to learn from them. Keep moving forward, and I guess we will see where we end up in a year.
