Sony Computer Entertainment has left its fans in a state of awe after the conclusion of the first day of the 2016 PlayStation Experience Convention. This is due to the fact that Sony Computer Entertainment has finally announced that they are going to be releasing a remastered edition of one of the most iconic gaming franchises, Crash Bandicoot, with the help of Activision.
Since Crash Bandicoot stands as one of the most successful franchises to be made exclusively for the PlayStation family, many are eager to see how Sony and Activision tackle this historic project.
Crash Bandicoot was first developed over 15 years ago for the PlayStation with the main protagonist, Crash, instantly becoming the face of the company. Players would go through the levels, making Crash jump over and dodge dozens of obstacles. Unfortunately, after the main installments to the franchise, including some Go Karting sub-entries, produced a massive amount of success the franchise seemed to fade away. Once the PlayStation 4 was released many fans were beginning to believe that Sony Computer Entertainment was done with the groundbreaking franchise. While there were a few teasers posted on Sony Computer Entertainment's Twitter account, there was still a lot of doubt regarding a Crash Bandicoot remake.
On December 3, 2016, Sony Computer Entertainment addressed these doubts as they released a trailer revealing that they were, in fact, nearing completion on the highly anticipated remastering of Crash Bandicoot.
The Trailer opens up with very vague elements that describe the Crash Bandicoot franchise, particularly using the nostalgic sounds that were used in the first Crash Bandicoot entry. Fans are then greeted by the almighty Crash himself as he runs and jumps through a remastered version of the first level of the first Crash Bandicoot game. The Trailer then goes through a number of different gameplay clips that compare the Original release of Crash Bandicoot with the soon to be released remastered version. This fully demonstrated the fantastic visuals that the remastered version would be bringing to the franchise. Fans of the franchise were then informed that the soon to be released remastered version would include 3 remastered Crash Bandicoot entries. The trailer ends by informing viewers that they would be able to re-live the nostalgic Crash Bandicoot experience sooner than later with the game set to be released sometime within the year of 2017.
From what we can tell from the Crash Bandicoot announcement trailer, Sony and Activision are getting ready to release possibly the greatest game remastering to date. Despite the PlayStation 4 being far more powerful than the original PlayStation that featured the first Crash Bandicoot game, Sony and Activision seem to be doing an exceptional job capturing the essence of the Crash Bandicoot we came to know and love over 15 years ago. Although there has not been an official release date announced, the 2017 timeframe was more than enough for the thousands of fans that have been longing for a remastering of the Iconic Crash Bandicoot franchise.
