Music is an amazing thing. It has the power to transport us back to a completely different time or place. Upon hearing a certain song, we can become overwhelmed with emotion. It could make you happy to remember a certain moment that you might associate with the song. It could make you smile, and remind you of someone you love. Hearing a song that came out during your childhood is one of the best feelings in the world. I have compiled a list of some of my favorite old songs that will definitely ignite your inner middle schooler.

1." Potential Breakup Song"- Aly and AJ

This song made me feel like calling up the boyfriend I didn't have and dumping him. Wether or not your middle school self was in a relationship or not, you could always jump and dance around to this song. It's a shame that Aly and AJ fell off the face of the Earth, they came out with some really fun songs! ("Chemicals React" was my actual jam.)

2. "Untouched"- The Veronicas

Ah, another sister-duo that we don't really hear about anymore. This song reminds me of when my sister and I wanted to become famous singing sisters like them. I could never tell them apart, and I have no idea where they went, but I thank them for creating this song.

3. "Every Time We Touch"- Cascada

An absolute classic, played at every single party from 2007-2010. Painfully catchy. Rating: 10/10.

4. "Sk8r Boi"- Avril Lavigne

This is one of those songs that you didn't even know you knew all of the words to until you hear it on the radio in your car five years later.

5. "Low"- Flo-Rida

Flo-Rida never gets old. From "Low," to "Elevator," to "Wild Ones," to "GDFR," to "My House," he always has a popular song playing on the radio. You couldn’t get through a middle school dance without hearing “Shawty had them Apple Bottom jeans, boots with the fur (with the fur!).”

6. "Since You Been Gone"- Kelly Clarkson

This list wouldn't be complete without this middle school anthem. You could check back with me when I'm 60 years old and I will still belt out the chorus to this song.

7. "Starstrukk"- 3OH!3 ft. Katy Perry

These guys put out some serious jams, ("Don't Trust Me," "My First Kiss," and "Rich Man" to name a few) but this one was always my favorite.

8. "Stronger"- Britney Spears

This was my favorite Britney song for so long--"Toxic" soon took its place. When I hear this song I think of how I used to always have it playing on my Hit Clip and would jam out to it.

9. "S.O.S"- Jonas Brothers

Don’t lie, you were a Jo-Bro fan. You had a poster in your room at some point. You were rooting for Nick and Miley to be together forever. You thought that Kevin was underappreciated, but he probably wasn't your favorite. This song takes me way back.

10. "Hollaback Girl"- Gwen Stefani

Another classic. Thank you, Gwen, for teaching kids everywhere how to spell "bananas."

11. "Candy Shop"- 50 Cent

It was almost impossible to pick just one 50 Cent song to include in this list, but I decided on "Candy Shop." When I hear this song, I remember my mom not letting me put it on my first generation iPod Nano because of how inappropriate it was. Not even the clean version! Rude...

12. "Get Busy"- Sean Paul

Last, but definitely not least, Sean Paul. He put out so many songs that I will still dance to if I hear them. I still have no idea what he was saying 80 percent of the time, but this is still one of my favorite songs.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
