A Playlist to Get You Through the Week

Few things can give the energy that music has.

There are not many things that all humans have in common. But one thing undeniably, is music. Music can unite people in ways that nothing else can, and it can put an emotion into words in such a unique form, explaining every single feeling that you could never explain on your own. There are very few things in this world that give people the same energy that music does. Why else would thousands of people have that "pump up" playlist on their iTunes, or play their favorite song on repeat for hours on end? Humans use music as soul food- here are ten songs to feed your soul this week.

1. "Garden" by Emeli Sandé (feat. Jay Electronica and Áine Zion)

Beginning with a pulsing bass and lines of haunting poetry by Ainé Zion, followed by analogies for love from Jay Electronica, this song will have you hitting repeat all day long.

2. "Recovery" by James Arthur

This song can serve as motivation or inspiration for a struggling soul in need of guidance. James Arthur provides a very emotional and powerful track about recovery (obviously) and perseverance.

3. "Work Song" by Hozier

With deep gospel-like 'hums' droning in the backgrounds and steady claps to keep the beat, you'll be singing along after just the first listen (it's that good).

4. "Blue Dream" Jhene Aiko

The type of song that pulls you toward a park or open field to sit and just be.

5. "Pink + White" by Frank Ocean

The swing feel of this song provokes a comfortable feeling, not to mention the gorgeous strings and Ocean's smooth vocals.

6. "Sippy Cup" by Melanie Martinez

This song always gives me chills. Melanie Martinez takes a common childhood object and turns it into an explicit track about emotional pain and a broken home.

7. "Broad Shoulders" by Taylor Bennett (feat. Chance the Rapper)

Take some time to listen to these lyrics; extremely inspiring without taking away from the 'rap' vibe of the song.

8. "Morning" by Marc E. Bassy

Just an all around feel-good song, perfect for an early morning that needs a little something more.

9. "Kiss it Better" by Rihanna

Off of her most recent album ANTI, this is undeniably one of Rihanna's best songs yet. How could you not love that electric guitar opening the song?

10. "All We Do" by Oh Wonder

All We Do is the perfect song to wind down your day with--my sister listens to this song before going to bed. Simple yet mesmerizing piano, beautiful words, overall great song.

These songs will satisfy any emotion that you are storing in your body; open your heart and let the music recharge you!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
