We all remember the year 2009, right? From the awful fashion choices of the early 2000’s to the music and celebrities, no one will forget what it was like to live in these times. 2009 gave us stellar bops by The Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, and more. With the help of a friend, here is a killer playlist full of iconic songs for your nostalgic needs.

1. Boom Boom Pow by The Black Eyed Peas.

This song is well known and is the best way to get yourself pumped up.

2. Poker Face by Lady Gaga.

Nothing needs to be said. This song is iconic because anything Lady Gaga produces is perfect. Everyone at some point has played this song in their bedroom, living room, or kitchen and has performed it with planned choreography.

3. Party In The U.S.A by Miley Cyrus.

Yet another song that we all danced to in 2009.

4. Right Round by Flo Rida.

If you didn’t dance to this and completely play it out until you had it forever burned into your brain, were you alive in 2009? Were you under a rock? This song still echoes in my head from time to time.

5. I’m Yours by Jason Mraz.

This song is so pleasant and easy to listen to. Be ready to feel nostalgic when this song comes up as number five.

6. I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas.

Back at it again with the Black Eyed Peas. They really made an impact in the early 2000’s

7. Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) by Beyoncé.

Queen! Of course, she makes an appearance in this playlist. She was, and still is, royalty, and she deserves her spot in this list.

8. Just Dance by Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga was a huge part of my life in 2009, and many of her songs appear in this playlist. This was another one of her songs everyone had to perform in their homes.

9. Heartless by Kanye West.

Though I don’t listen to any of his music now, in 2009 this song was on every radio station. I loved this song.

10. Love Story by Taylor Swift.

Oh, young Taylor Swift, your songs were so iconic and sweet. Every young girl (and some young boys) has this song memorized.

11. Give You Hell by The All-American Rejects.

“When you see my face. Hope it gives you hell. Hope it gives you hell…” Ah, this break up song is one that I sing loudly and without shame. And I know you all do it too, don’t lie.

12. Dead And Gone (feat. Justin Timberlake) by T.I.

My friend made this playlist and insisted this be in there, and he was absolutely right.

13. Kiss Me Thru The Phone by Soulja Boy.

This rocked our 2009 hearts.

14. I Know You Want Me by Pitbull.

I know you want me to keep going in this awesome playlist. Okay I’m done.

15. The Climb by Miley Cyrus.

If you don’t know this song by heart and can’t just break out into song in your local Applebee’s, you’re missing out.

16. My Life Would Suck Without You by Kelly Clarkson.

Yes, Kelly, just yes.

17. You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift.

More of Taylor’s songs show up on this list just because they connect with the little girl in us all.

18. Halo by Beyoncé.

Queen of pop back at it again.

19. Hot N Cold by Katy Perry.

“‘Cause your hot then your cold…” Katy Perry finds herself on this list finally.

20. Circus by Britney Spears.

Leave. Britney. Alone!

21. Whatcha Say by Jason Derulo.

Great song from 2009 and a great meme.

22. Whatever You Like by T.I.

We all remember this tune.

23. If I Were a Boy by Beyoncé.

Once again Bey makes an appearance. Honestly, all of her songs are so amazing it was hard to pick just a few.

24. Fireflies by Owl City.

Don’t lie, you loved this song when it played thirty times a day on every radio station. Thus, it landed its rightful place on this list.

25. Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z.

Not much needs to be said for this one because it is iconic. I bet you can still find this one playing on a few stations.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
