I have become a certified SoMo Fan Girl.
On May 4th, 2016, when SoMo performed at the Altar Bar in Pittsburgh, PA, I had to be there. I had never been to one of his concerts before, so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. SoMo Nation is pretty hype, and the venue was sold out. Foreshadowing: I had an absolutely mind-blowing, amazing time, and I can't wait for the next time I can see him in concert. If you're planning on going to see him on tour, here are a few things I learned that you may want to know about going to a SoMo concert!
Get there early. Trust me. For my show, which started at 8:00 PM, doors opened at 7:00, and my best friend and I were in line by 5:00. Even at that, there were still a good 50+ people ahead of us. Most of his shows are General Admission, and everyone wants to be in the front, which brings me to my next point.
It's SoMo. He's RIGHT THERE. Of course, everyone is going to be pressing in as close as they can to him. Don't be mad. Don't hit people on the head, if you can't see past them. (I'm not kidding. I saw one girl do this) You're going to a concert, this stuff happens. Be patient and courteous, because you know if there's an opportunity to collapse in, you're definitely going to! Just be prepared to be shoulder to shoulder most of the time.
It gets hot (in multiple ways...) But right now, I'm referring to the actual temperature. Lots of people, lots of sweat, lots of frizzy hair. It's inevitable.
If you can wear heels, do it. Even though my friend and I had pretty good spots, I would not have been able to see over all the people if I didn't wear heels. My feet hurt like crazy by the end of the show, but SoMo is worth it. Am I right?
Look up who the opening acts are and listen to some of their music. Kid Quill opened for my show (and probably will continue to the rest of SoMo's 2016 tour), and I am officially a fan! Make sure you enjoy the opening acts!
Please, for the sake of the other fans, wear deodorant.
Also for the sake of the other fans, don't wear a big bun and don't flip your hair all over the place. I tasted way too many girls' hair the other night, guys.
Stay around after he ends the show. Once everyone starts leaving, his band throws out props like guitar picks and SoMo's towels.
If you have time to stick around a long time after the show, do it. SoMo always likes to get a group picture in front of his tour bus.
SoMo's concert was absolutely incredible. Be prepared to scream all night, have no voice the next day, and be on a spiritual high for a long time. He is a sensational singer and an all around awesome performer who truly loves his fans. You definitely want to be part of the Ride ;)
