Sometimes it’s hard to realize how good a person has it when the world seems to be filled with negative energy. It can be hard to look beyond the surface and realize that in some cases, you and I are not in control of everything that happens.
People strive for perfection, strive for the idea that their lives will come to this point of endless ease. They have these beliefs that the rest of life is enjoyed once a sanction of peace and love is reached and held firmly for the rest of their time here.
Promises of endless happiness and never-ending perfection in one’s life are not valid. Believing that one day you and I will break into a realm of pure, untouched, untainted happiness for the rest of our lives is false. It is important to understand that there is no such thing as “perfection,” a life in which everything goes the way you plan it and dream it to be, is key to not letting yourself fall into feelings of despair.
A life in which you do your best is a better life than setting goals that seem unreasonable and out of touch. Setting the goal of utter, never ending happiness is harder to come forth. I'm not saying we should not strive for happiness, but to be extremely devoted to trying to be happy means forgetting that sometimes things do not go the way you want them to.
While devoting so much time to being happy, we are shocked when out of nowhere something negative takes place in our lives. We fail to figure out how to overcome such negativity and it becomes harder for us to move forward from the heartache.
Rather than trying to force yourself to find the “true meaning of happiness” and break the secret code, it is best to enjoy each day separately. Stop thinking beyond what is happening now and focus on the small things in life rather than figuring out the big picture.
It is important to understand we are not in control of everything that happens, but we can take in what happens and go with it. It can be easy to put high expectations on yourself and demand that you become some OG with mad skills. In reality, we all are struggling and not everything goes the way we want it to.
The next time you are hard on yourself and wondering why the hell shit is not going the right way, just realize that you cannot be in control of everything. Whatever you are stressing about and hating yourself for not doing better on needs to be let go.
You're good. Shit happens. You can't possibly expect everything was going to go your way and this was some happy Disney princess movie. Just keep going and do your best.
