Something Everyone Needs To Hear

Get your head out of your ass.

Something Everyone Needs To Hear
Shelby Pope

Hi, yes, hello there. Clearly, you can read, so therefore, your brain works. If your brain is working properly, you are able to create opinions and think your own thoughts.

Sometimes I want to shake every single person on this planet. Why all of a sudden does everyone get so offended by every single little thing? Heck, the other day I heard a straight female complain about two gay men holding hands.... YOU ARE CHILDISH. They are not disturbing your life in any way, shape or form!!! They have just as much right to love whoever they want, the freaking Supreme Court established that over a year ago!!!! But anyways, here's my rant on the current status of our social crisis :-)

Here's my blunt point: everyone needs to chill the hell out. Stop getting offended and butt hurt over things that do not even remotely or directly affect your life, even if they affect it indirectly, why are you going out of your way to be upset about it??? Why can't people understand that?! Why not instead channel your attention and emotions into things that you actually have an effect on, for example: taking care of the planet we live on, kids and animals in foster care and shelters, or, I don't know, THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION? I hate politics, but I still do my research and stay informed because at least if I vote, I have a reason to be upset that things didn't go the way I hoped they would, but by not voting you might as well forfeit your right to complain because you didn't attempt to make a difference.

Does this article offend you? GOOD. EVERYTHING OFFENDS EVERYONE NOWADAYS. Maybe if I piss off enough people, they'll get off their sorry asses, and stop bitching on facebook, twitter, etc. and make a damn change to things they don't like!!!! Instead of sitting behind a computer screen and complaining, why not go out in the real world and do something to have a real life effect on the situation?! Could you imagine the change we would see in the world?

To all you people complaining that you're fat/unhealthy: DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Hell, if my handicapped mom (God, bless her heart) who can barely walk (and I do mean, barely) can go to our community workout room and ride the stationary bike, or even take the measures to buying healthy food at the grocery store, preparing nutritious meals, and cutting out fast food to lose a couple of pounds and improve her overall heath, then you can too. Quit complaining, get off your smartphone, computer, whatever device you may be on, and go take a walk, ride a bike, play catch with your kids!!! The possibilities are endless! Don't know how to get started? You don't have to pay a personal trainer, I'm sure you can post on your facebook and you have a healthy friend who would be more than willing to set you in the right direction and help hold you accountable in your lifestyle change. I know it works, because that's what I did ;-)

To all you people complaining about gay/lesbian/transgender people or couples: WHAT THE HELL DO YOU CARE?! Are you so insecure with your own masculinity/femininity/self-image that these people actually are bothering your existence? You and your bad attitude bother me. Homophobia and Trans-phobia are real diseases, go get yourself some help. Hell, most of the time these are the most confident, optimistic, loving, and encouraging people I know. Go get yourself a gay bff, I swear it's the absolute greatest! I've had and still have several homosexual friends and family members and I honestly prefer them to my straight friends sometimes.

To all you people complaining about the Democratic and Republican Presidential Candidates: DO YOUR RESEARCH. Seriously, have you ever had a history class or even watched National Treasure?! You would know there is MORE THAN THOSE TWO CANDIDATES. Damn, there's five other third-party candidates, and a ton of people who I'm sure you could write in too! Why don't you look up those people and see if you like what they stand for and have to say instead?! Good grief.

To all you people complaining about wanting to travel or spending too much money: STOP. Honestly, knock it off. I have a HUGE spending problem and I used to bitch constantly about being broke and not having money for material things. Then, I saved up enough money to move to a place I actually wanted to be, and I was broke 24-7 but I was SO happy. Honestly, my worst day living there still tops my best day when I used to live at home. You don't need that new shirt. You really don't need McDonald's for lunch. I can promise you don't need to spend money on those shoes because I'm sure you have 8 other pairs you've never even worn. Spend your money on experiences, it will truly improve the quality of your life. Or if you are trying to save up money for something big, there's PLENTY of apps for that on your smartphone. I use one called Mint, it's a budget app that is connected to your bank account and holds you accountable for your spending. Try it out, or try a different one. Or, honestly, ask any 45+ year-old person to teach you how to budget your money. Their parents lived through The Great Depression and were probably extremely frugal, and they themselves lived through the recession a few years back so they probably have a couple of helpful hints.

To all you people complaining about Black Lives Matter/ Police Lives Matter/ All Lives Matter:.... I only have one thing to say to you; treat every person you meet as if you were blind. Let me say it a little louder to reiterate it to the people in the back.... The color of their skin, what they're wearing, they're physical appearance MEANS NOTHING. My parents have taught me this for as long as I can remember and I have so many incredible friends of all colors, shapes, sizes, religions, backgrounds, etc. But that doesn't mean I don't know when to get rid of toxic and harmful people. Judge a person based on their character, or hell, just show love and compassion to every person you come into contact with!!!! BEING A DECENT HUMAN BEING IS NOT A DIFFICULT THING TO DO.

I hope this pissed you off and lit a fire under your ass. Do you think I'm a punk? I'm sure you do, and my mom would have to agree that I'm a stubborn, unfiltered Armenian, do I care? Absolutely not. I hope this makes you realize the shit you bitch about is petty and uncalled for. I hope the next time you decide to rant on facebook, you actually made an effort to change whatever it is you're complaining about otherwise, I'll call you a Grade A hypocrite. Food for thought :-)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
