Summer doesn't just mean pool days and barbecues. It's also the music festival season. Festivals that are more than a few days long, filled with good music, food and memories. But before you embark on this fun adventure, there are vital things you must know.
Sensible Footwear is a must.
If you're attending your first festival soon or are planning on it sometime in the near future, then know this: you must wear shoes that you can walk in for hours that won't blister your feet. If you have a particular pair of shoes you want to wear, then start breaking them in now or you'll be tip toeing around the festival grounds in pure pain saying, "ow ow ow, why did I wear these stupid things?"
You can wear whatever you want and no one will judge.
Each year, the outfits at music festival get weirder and weirder. But that's all part of the experience. A few days outside with no responsibilities but to have fun (and stay alive), the regular rules of apparel don't apply. Anything from vintage wear like overalls, to some newer trends is in the mix. And definitely no bras. No bras for four days with no weird looks is pure heaven.
It's totally worth the physical pain to see your favorite artists super close.
This means being packed like sardines with thousands of other people that smell even worse than you do, and have had more the drink than you have. Along with being squished together is the amount different of smells you encounter in these large crowds. Beer breath, B.O., couple different types of smoke ;), and some more B.O. And let's not forget getting shoved around. Yes, could include getting trampled by crowd surfers or punched in the face from all of the people moving the crowd surfers. But I promise you, you'll never forget seeing your favorite band or singer that close perform. Even if you were punched in the face...twice. (Thank you, Blink-182).
Everyone's there to have a good time, so don't kill the vibe.
With music festivals bringing in tens of thousands of other people, there's bound to be someone there you pisses you off. Or something might happen that just gets on your last nerve and sets you off. But remember that everyone else there is in the same boat as you: sweaty, tired, dirty, hungry, sunburnt. You're not the only one. And try to remember why you're there: to have a good time and a break from the every day boring routine! To see your favorite artists perform and enjoy the atmosphere. Just relax a little bit.
