Moving into your new apartment or even college dorm can be super exciting. You're all alone and you can do pretty much whatever you want more. You get all the freedom that you've always wanted. I know that I was super excited to move into my new apartment far away from home. It was super exciting as I'm sure it was for everyone else. Even a couple of years ago when I moved into my dorm, that was pretty awesome as well.
The most common complaint that you always hear is noise. Noise is one of the worst things that you can have to deal with, especially if it's keeping you up at night. Or even waking you up in the morning.
Sometimes leaving the tenants a note doesn't even do anything to stop the noise. In my case, my neighbors have two twin four-year-olds. They run around all day which shakes the apartment I live in. The best part is that stuff falls off our walls. We've spoken many times to them about this, and they don't care.
Neighbors that have children -- and even younger people who just don't care about others in general -- are the worst. They are some of the worst kinds of people because in our case there is nothing we can do. Children are a protected class so the apartment complex will do nothing. Which is why apartments can be the worst.
One of the worst things that happened to me while living in the apartment was that the same people ended up getting a package of mine near theirs. Now, these people don't speak English that well, and apparently the grandma speaks none at all, but she decided that she would open up my package that had my name on it. I was shocked, especially since they brought it up to me at 10:30 at night. I was shocked that they even said sorry at all.
When worse does come to worst, the best thing that you can do is just to try and talk it out with them. I've done this many times and sometimes it does work. It's hard to own up to the mistakes you all might have made as tenants too, but you're just going to have to do it. I know that we have admitted our wrongs to the neighbors and said sorry to them while they still continue to be loud and do nothing to stop. Being the bigger person always ends up making it better in the end. And the fact that we might do small things that really piss them off.
