Life is unpredictable. It is filled with twists and turns that more often than not one doesn’t see coming. All of the people an individual meets in their life play a significant role in the story being written. Every action we take and every word that we say can greatly influence not only the chapter that one is writing for themselves, but those who we interact with. In an instant everything can change, which makes saying what one needs to say even more important.
Words are a very powerful thing. They can be brutal, life destroying devices, or they can be soft, well thought out and said at just the right time. It is important to observe one's surroundings and make note of what is going on, so that when it comes time to speak what is being said is powerful and wanted. If the words are unwanted, they can lead to a lot of hurt and heartache. However when they are truly needed and desired, it will leave the recipient grateful.
For me personally, every time I hear the verses of John Mayer’s song "Say What You Need to Say" flow through the speakers of my radio, I know that there is something that needs to be said, and someone out there who needs to hear what thoughts I have. This theory has never failed me, and each time I am left glad that I said everything that I was thinking. My advice is: don’t let the words that are on your mind go unsaid—always say you’re sorry, admit when you are at fault, think before you open your mouth, checkup on those who mean the most to you, fix what you have broken and be sure to say I love you. Just remember that you only get to write one story, so always say what you need to say.
