Taking Breaks From Social Media Helps You Realize Who You Want To Be As A Person

Taking abrupt and timely breaks from social media has been one of the best decisions of my life! As a social media user, I have realized that it truly does take a lot of precious time out of my life. Time itself is extremely precious, and we seldom realize the importance of it when we're indulging in the fine works of social media. Honestly, simply scrolling through your Facebook feed or Instagram requires you to take some pivotal minutes out of your hectic schedule. But is it worth it?

For me, taking breaks from my online persona is more of a habitual act than a choice due to daily errands and everyday real-life pleasures. Social media drives us away from our loved ones and sometimes limits the amount of time we spend relishing the aromatic beauty of common activities. Such activities include spending quality time with friends and family, engaging in insightful conversations with intellectuals, embracing the sunshine on a hot summer day, or simply interacting with nature.

As a matter of fact, there is a life outside of social media where meaningful things can occur and where we can find more closure from past relationships. Interestingly, social media has the tendency to trigger feelings of negativity, jealousy, and angst which could potentially damage many relationships.

Even a person's ultimate sanity and mental health can be brutally affected by the online world. Therefore, it is always a good idea to take sporadic breaks from social media, as it enables you to relive those precious moments that you perhaps have most likely forgotten about. It provides you with a splendid opportunity to reevaluate yourself and your life goals.

Every day is a continuation of your life's chapter, and subsequent plot twists make it even more enticing to live. Realize that you are more in control of your responsibilities and priorities while limiting social media use. That said, social media is still a vibrant and versatile platform to showcase your precious moments and talents. However, taking mini-breaks or even sporadic breaks is a wonderful way to re-introduce yourself to your precious moments and priorities!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
