Congrats, you made it.
For some of you, this means that you have completed your first week of college, and for the rest of you, this means you have made it through the reunion of going back to school. Regardless of what the circumstance may be, syllabus weeks gets to us all. This week sets the mood for the rest of the semester, and will ultimately make-it or break-it for you.
Don't get me wrong, syllabus week is awesome. Saying "hi" to the friends you haven't seen all summer, doing absolutely nothing all week long, going out the night before your 8 a.m. class on Friday: it doesn't get much better than that.
Although we get carried away during syllabus week, don't make your decisions from that first week of classes become a regular occurrence throughout the semester. Syllabus week is both a blessing and a curse. As much as we all love and need to have fun in order to balance all of the stress we have from classes, make sure you set your priorities straight. Set goals for yourself. After all, we are all in college for the same reason: a degree.
Take advantage of syllabus week. Make sure you get into a regular schedule that will benefit you. Get organized and start working ahead in your classes. Make sure you go to all of your classes from here on out, because you know that you will definitely make a habit out of it for the next time you have to go to class. So now that syllabus week is over and reality kicks in, make the best of this semester. Stay organized. Get one step ahead of your classes. Accomplish all of your goals that you have made for yourself. Most importantly, don't be afraid to challenge yourself this semester. You can do it.
