So Damn Afraid Of Love
Love

As a generation, we look at love in many different ways. Some of us want it, play with it, are afraid of it, or have it. Those who have it seem to be too blind to see it. Overall though, I feel we see love as making us all weak ass bitches. We overthink it, make a dumb ass move, and lose it.

Why do we do this to each other and ourselves? We have all been there. Imagine the scenario, you're at a party with your friends drinking till you drop and you let the news out, "I think I love him/her." Your friends immediately start gagging and persuading you to change your mind. WHY THE F***?! Then, you start to overthink it all. We prepare ourselves for the failure before it even begins, then we pretty much start the demise of our relationship before it even starts.

It's funny. We aren't afraid of going too fast in a car, trying drugs, or taking the chance of getting a STD; however, we are terrified to live a life with one person for as long as we live. Is it because we know the risks of all the things we try and the risks of love can be ever changing or is it because we know what it's like to lose love? We know it hurts way more to lose love than to have our brains smashed on the concrete going too fast around a curve?

We all bitch about how shitty love is yet no one makes the actual change to fix our beliefs or our actions to make it better. Twitter is full of "Mind as well live alone for forever." Facebook is just about the same "Why are there no good guys out there?"

STOP! Yes, love is scary. But, truly what is the worst that can happen? Heartbreak? To me, I would rather take the risks and feel love at least once than to never have felt it at all. Don't we all take a risk like that when we put that bottle to our lips? Hell yeah, we may wake up with one hell of a hangover, but those couple hours where your mind was spinning, you were laughing uncontrollably and felt something greater than when you were sober was way worth the shitty hangover at 6 a.m. Although you say you won't do it again, you will. You'll do it because it felt good. That's a lot like what love does to you. Sometimes that drunk lasts and sometimes it doesn't and you wind up hungover and sad, but you still go out on Saturday to try to feel it again.

Like they say in Practical Magic, "Did you ever put your arms out and just spin and spin. Well, that's what love is like. It makes your heart race. It turns the world upside down. But if you're not careful, if you don't keep your eyes on something still, you can lose your balance. You can't see what's happening to the people around you. You can't see that you're about to fall."

Give it your all, make stupid choices to learn from, and do everything and anything. There's nothing I wouldn't do for the right guy. You fall on your ass, get back up and try again for love doesn't make you weak, it makes you stronger..

P.S. the only people that are stupid are those who don't allow themselves to feel anything as magical as love. Take the risk.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
