One of the most difficult things for a college student is staying healthy throughout the year. We have exams, tons of homework; we're in clubs/Greek life, athletic teams, and even have work. Trying to manage all of that and having time to eat healthy is a little tricky. With all the fast food that is around college campuses, it just seems so much easier and quicker to eat that, rather than have a home cooked meal. If there's anything that makes life easier, it's meal prep for full meals, but snacks are easier to put together. If you're like me, then you're a huge snack eater throughout the day, unless it is breakfast or dinner. Here are a few easy, and pretty healthy, snack options when you have those long, busy days ahead of you.
1. Veggies.
You can never go wrong with fresh vegetables; these you can simply put in a zip lock bag and be on your way. Always refrigerate them the night before and remember that you have them.
2. Fruit.
Just like vegetables, fruits are simple to take with you and are healthy. It's easy and accessible for whenever you need it; whether you cut up an apple or eat it as a whole, your favorite fruits are a good go to when you're hungry.
3. Peanut butter and pretzels.
You can put peanut butter with so many different things. A favorite snack of mine is peanut butter and pretzels, it's filling with just a few bites.
4. Peanut butter and apples.
Like I said, peanut butter goes with a lot of different things—but especially apples.
5. Wheat Thins.
You can never go wrong with any sort of cracker, but I enjoy wheat thins because they taste good and it takes a small amount to fill me up.
6. Protein bars and energy bars.
Healthy and they are the perfect size for when you just have to eat quick and get back to work.
7. Dark Chocolate.
Do you remember growing up and your parents saying that chocolate is unhealthy for you. While that's true for almost anything, dark chocolate is relatively healthy for you, what's important is to not over eat. If you need some help, simply break off a small amount and treat yourself throughout the day.
8. Yogurt, nuts, berries.
This is one does take a little bit of preparation, but it's delicious and easy to do. Get whatever size mason jar that you'd like, and mix it with anything you'd like. Add in yogurt, some nuts or granola, and your favorite fruit. Mixing your favorite snacks can easily brighten up your day.
9. Peanut butter, pretzels, banana, and chocolate.
Simply put all the ingredients together, put them in the freezer and enjoy a treat at the end of your day.
No matter what the case is, whether you meal prep or not. These are a few simple things that can make a day a little easier when you are backed up with classes or work. Always try new things, experiment with different foods and find new recipes to spice up your day.
