Growing up in a small town and then going to a D1 college is a big transition. For someone who only had 31 people in my graduation class, it amazes me how many people are at one university or even one classroom. Here are a few thoughts I have at least once a week.

1. Wait, this lecture hall could hold my whole school K-12.

How can these many people be organized into one area? Or even one teacher deal with this many people?

2. I've met more people this week than I have in my whole life.

In high school, I would just see the same people everyday. In college, I never see the same person walking twice.

3. There are so many food options!

From my dorm I have about 10 different fast food restaurants and 5 dine in. So much more than the two quick stops back home.

4. Wait, you didn't have to play sports in high school?

So, you're telling me people had to try out for sports at other high schools? We just had to show up and say we want to be on the team.

5. You graduated with 400 people? That was my whole school.

How long was your graduation though? With my 31 people it was over 2 hours?

6. You didn't just have Spanish as a foreign language option?

And you actually didn't just watch movies? Okay then...

7. Wait, you don't know them? They went to your high school!

You were in the same building with them for four years. How do you not know them?

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
