You aren't likely to find another place like 2Mix Food & Beverages in Corvallis. Actually, I know you won't, because the restaurant owner, Jorge Barreto, did research on the foods located in Corvallis before deciding to open his store in May of 2015. Not only will you not find food like this in Corvallis, you are not likely to find this type of customer service in other food chain stores.

"Anyone can sell food," says Barreto. "We don't just sell food. We sell an experience."

Barreto is on a first name basis with all of his customers. He is friendly, professional, and really offers more than just food at his restaurant. The pickled carrots offered at 2Mix com from a recipe given to him by a customer. You don't have that kind of relationship with the CEO at other chain restaurants.

2Mix is roughly two miles from the Oregon State campus on the Southwest side of town. It serves a variety of ethnic foods. The three main styles are Mediterranean, South American, and Far Eastern. All the food is made from scratch in the restaurant, and that is something that 2Mix is known for. Even items such as sriracha, tzatziki sauce, hummus, and tabbouleh are made from scratch. The produce is purchased locally and the meat is grass fed. 2Mix also offers gluten-free and dairy-free options.

The prices at 2Mix are amazing for the generous proportions. All of 2Mix's main dishes are $5.99. This price includes the meat, beans, rice, vegetables, and sauces. There are no hidden fees at 2Mix. Do you want guacamole on your burrito? Your burrito is still $5.99! Add the dessert of the day or soup and a fountain drink to make it a combo, and your meal will be a total of $7.99.

Besides the prices and types of food, what makes 2Mix different than other restaurants in Corvallis?

"It's kind of funny," says Barreto. "I'm actually a dentist."

Barreto went to school to be a dentist. He always had a passion for cooking, and when it was time to make a career choice, he knew what he had to do. He told his family he was going to go to culinary school. Barreto trained in Paris, and now has over 20 years experience and partnerships with restaurants in Columbia, Peru, Mexico, and Brazil. Barreto is an expert in his craft and really knows the foods he is working with.

2Mix is one of the best restaurants in Corvallis. The food is fresh, the experience is friendly, and even if you order the same thing twice, it never tastes exactly the same — the food is made fresh daily, so sometimes the flavors change, making it a different experience every time you go. I recommend the tortilla soup and street tacos. The chicken, my personal favorite, is flavorful and great in tacos and burritos. My first time at 2Mix, Jorge asked if I trusted him to make a unique burrito. It was full of meat, vegetables, humus, and tzatziki sauce. It is by far the biggest and best burrito I have ever had!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
