So this week I went to my first small venue concert to see one of my favorite artists SuperDuperKyle (Kyle). The Venue was a small club in downtown Tampa and all the previous concerts I had been to were in large stadiums and arenas. Both types of concerts have their downsides and benefits that I'll list below, but seeing your favorite artist is always worth it.
1. If you are short and going to a concert at a small venue, get their early to get a good standing place.
I feel as if the average height at the Kyle concert was 6ft 3in, I'm 5'3" and in the crowded venue, I was being knocked around by tall people dancing and at some points struggling to get a good view. Part of the benefits of going to a concert is finally being able to see your favorite artists in person so make sure you get as close to the stage as possible and avoid tall people. Tall people, do everyone a favor and slide to the back, you'll be able to see regardless so give everyone else a chance.
2. Large arena concerts have chairs.
For the Kyle Concert, I was standing for almost 4 hours! Standing in line, waiting for the opener, listening to the opening artist, and then the actual concert. My legs were exhausted! While you may be up dancing the entire concert, having the option of a seat is nice especially while you are waiting or in case you aren't exactly excited about the opener. Having a chair also means you have a little bit more personal space.
3. Large Concerts have food options.
When I went to see Taylor Swift at Raymond James it was so easy to go to the concession stand and get a nice bottle of water so my throat wouldn't get too dry from singing. They also had all the hot dogs, nachos, and salty pretzels you could desire. The smaller venue had a bar, but if you're under 21 that really doesn't help.
4. Smaller Concerts usually cost less.
You don't want to know how much I paid to see Beyoncéat Raymond James last year, let's just say it was a lot more than the $18 I paid to see Kyle. For big concerts, you pay big bucks!.
Hopefully, you'll consider this list when buying tickets to your next concert whether it is at a small venue or a huge stadium, make sure you go with good people and enjoy the music.
