Being a Disney Cast Member introduces you to many things that you otherwise would have never experienced.
Of these things, special Disney lingo is one of them.
Here are some words and phrases a Disney Cast Member hears differently than literally everyone else in this world:
1. Grape Soda
Wait, what? Believe it or not, this is actually a meaningful phrase to cast members. And it's a good thing. And it has nothing to do with soda; but has to do with cast members being recognized for doing a great job.
2. The Hub
Definitely not the hub you're thinking of. But, it has dual meaning to cast members. It is where we get our schedules and request days off; as well as a place on Main Street with the best view of the night time fireworks.
3. Being "Friends With" Someone
Trust me. This has a VERY different meaning at Disney parks.
4. Fire
What, the hot stuff you roast marshmallows over? Being let go of your job? Both of these types of "fire" exist in Disney, but we don't use this word. We have our own words for these things. In fact, I think I forgot this word existed the entire time I worked at Disney.
5. Customer
....you mean a guest?
6. Quit
Once again, we don't use this word. I truly think Disney cast members forget this is a word in the English language.
7. "Food And Wine"
All three words must be present in this exact order for this to mess with a cast member's head. But nonetheless, it has a whole new meaning to them.
8. Keys
Car? House? Hahaha. Oh man. No, just Four. Four Keys.
9. Point
This is the closest word to meaning the same to cast members as non cast members, but it just triggers us slightly more. We don't want points at Disney.. but when we need TO point, there is only one way to do so.
10. Disney
Everyone loves Disney. But, this word is much more special to cast members. Disney is our home, our entertainment, our place of work, and basically our favorite thing ever. It takes on new meaning to us, perhaps more than anything else on this list.
