Reality has hit. My sister is old enough to be applying for college. In fact, she is old enough to be chosen the college that will affect the next four years of her education. These are pieces of advice I wish to give to my younger sister. I realize that this is a huge decision. I don't want to try to influence your decision. That is what it is, your decision. Don't let people tell you otherwise. Here are my two cents as you make decisions that affect the rest of your life. Don't worry I will be here to support you every step no matter what decision you make.
There are some things I want you to remember:
1. Ultimately, this is your decision.
Make the decision that will make you happy. If you decide on a college, choose a school that makes you happy. Take people's thoughts and opinions into consideration but realize it is your life you are going to be living, not their's.
2. Follow your dreams and discover you.
I can honestly say that I have discovered myself at college. I joined a couple clubs and extra-curricular things that I thought just to broaden my horizons. I found out the things that I thought I hated I actually loved with a passion.
3. Don't let a major decide where you go.
Go somewhere where you will be happy. Your major is not set in stone. Don't let a major decide where you go.
No matter what decision you make, I will be there to support you. I will always love you. There will always be something that never changes even with time and distance. You are my sister and nothing can change that. I will always be there for you. That is what sisters are for. I want to be here for you during this major time of change in your life. I want you to feel like you can come to me to ask me for help or advice. I will be there for you no matter what. Nothing can change the bond of family.
