1. She’s there for you any time, day or night.
Whether it’s for venting, a binge on your favorite show, PMS symptoms, or just to sit in silence on your phones, you know that your sister is always there for you no matter what. She’ll be ready with anything and everything you need. Usually there’s no need to text her to ask her if you can come over until you’re in her driveway; she’s probably already waiting for you. But on those rare occasions that you do need to text her in advance, don't ask. Just tell. She'll be totally cool with it.
2. You get double the wardrobe.
What’s hers is yours and what’s yours is hers – even when sometimes you don’t want it to be. She’ll take your favorite sweater, but that’s okay because you already have her jeans. There’s just this constant never-ending stream of “Oh, I have your clothes, I’ll bring them to you next time I see you” (which will probably be that night). But let’s face it: you will most likely never see that sweater again… Just like she’ll never see those jeans. And when you need the perfect shirt for a job interview and you’re stressing out because you ripped through your closet like a tornado about a hundred times, a little light bulb goes off in your head and you find just the right top in your sister’s stash of clothes. Wait, are those my heels in her closet? Oh well… they look better on her anyway.
3. You get insane amounts of advice… Whether you ask for it or not.
Whether she’s older or younger, your sister will always have a word of advice for you… on EVERYTHING. Boys, clothes, family, or to tell you if your makeup looks awful or amazing; you’re getting feedback on it no matter what. But even if it drives you insane sometimes, deep down, you really do love it and cherish every word. And you know that she cherishes every piece of advice that you so lovingly (most times) give right back to her.
4. She’ll take any creepy guy’s place at a bar or club, or any place for that matter.
If there is a creepo that just won’t quit, have no fear, your sister is right around the corner ready to swoop in and take you to safety. She’ll pose as your girlfriend, best friend (which she already is), lover, and everything in between. Who needs clubs and bars when you and sis can grab Taco Bell and binge on New Girl? But on those days when you guys do want to hit the town, be ready to be each other’s whatever-they-need.
5. At times, she will be your biggest challenger.
Your sister may very well be your best match when it comes to arguments. Think about it. You guys are so close; you probably basically share a brain. And even though fights suck, it brings out courage and strength and eventually forgiveness and mercy. From BOTH of you. Your fights are usually over the silliest things; why that shirt STILL hasn’t been returned (truth is you lost it, but there’s no chance she’s finding that out), if she used your last tampon, or if you accidentally broke her headphones. The resolutions of those fights always end in laughter and more Netflix… Probably followed by brownies.
6. You have someone to be ridiculously stupid and quirky with.
She is the yin to your yang, the peanut butter to your jelly, the mocha to your frappuccino, and the other half of the duet to your favorite song (with personal choreographed dance moves). You guys have secret accents and facial expressions that only you 2 can understand. It’s like a whole other world when you guys are together; one where “normal” isn’t even a word and where spontaneous British accents and twerking sessions are not only acceptable, but welcomed with open and shimmying arms.
6. There truly is no one who knows you better in the entire world.
In reality, no one compares to a sister. A bond between sisters, whether blood related or not, is one that is like no other. There is so much love, so much support, and so much dysfunction between you two that somehow, it works like clockwork. Go out today and thank your sister for everything she does for you. She truly is the ultimate best friend and I guarantee that you will never find anyone that will ever compare to her.
