Being Single Can Be Fun
Don’t give me that look! I know that a lot of older adults who are already married usually tell us this, but this is me telling you. I have only ever actually dated one person. I’ve had a few flings but only one true boyfriend and honestly, I enjoy being single… Well for the most part. Yes sometimes it can be hard to be alone, but think of it this way. You have no one to answer to. You can dye your hair purple, cut it all off, get on a plane to some random place and you don’t have to ask permission for any of it. That and if you do meet someone after doing all of this, chances are that they will like you for your free spirited self instead of “ I’m looking for an immediate boyfriend” self. Because apparently guys want to date you more when you are not looking for a relationship, (I know! Its craziness and I have no explanation for it) so stop looking and start enjoying life in the moment. Some days you will have to wake up and convince yourself that you are happier not in a relationship and at other times you will surprise yourself by saying “Wow this is awesome! I’m so glad that I’m not tied down at the moment.”My advice is to surround yourself with Happybeingsingle friends (That should be a hashtag). Then you can be eachothers relationships and have way more fun and you can go on group dates if you don’t want to get serous with a guy. It’s a win win, free food and great company.
You know what else is fun to do with friend?
Be Adventurous
To translate for all the people that actually know me, in other words when I get lost and we call it an adventure. My best friend knows this scenario very well. In my defense Dallas is super confusing! I don’t know why but now I’m craving brownies… Dang it! Stupid sugar!! Must not give in! Good news is I have no idea who would even be selling Brownies at 6 am and I don’t want to make them. So we are good. Where was I? Oh yeah adventure! It doesn’t always have to be planned. Some times the best adventure comes at the most unexpected time. My advice is to just run with it. Stop looking at your phone and realize the adventure in the moment. Okay so this may bring you to some sketchy rundown family karaoke warehouse and if it does, turn around. That is not the kind of adventure you want. Maybe you need to actually set time away from your busy schedule to have an adventure. If you are in school you may have to wait for winter break or summer, but plan ahead of time and save up a bunch of money! Those kind of adventures are not cheap, I know I’m going on one in two weeks. Need some help finding a place to go? Look for places that you know people. From that high school friend that moved to Paris to the cousin that lives in Hawaii, its easy to find people that are somewhere interesting and chances are that they would love to see you. Again plan ahead of time and ask if you can visit months in advance, because they may have to rearrange their schedule to accommodate you. Another great thing to do is make friends with foreign exchange students at college. They are awesome people, believe me I know this for a fact! That is who I am going to see on my adventure, two beautiful, amazing, talented German twin sisters who were gracious enough to invite me up for Christmas. Warning if you are going to be gone over Christmas your mother will have a fit! So be prepared and bribe her with gifts. If she is constantly worried about your safety, keep her away from the news! If she watches it she will band you from going because there is some messed up shit out there. In here defense there is, so keep safe, travel in packs, don’t take drinks from men at all, and dark allies are a no no. No matter how romantic they might seam. So keep looking for your next adventure and remember to laugh at whatever situation you wind up in. Life is too short to take it seriously. Enjoy it, it’s the only one we get.
