We all have a mother. You know, the woman who cared for you, nurtured you and helped form you into the person you are today. She's the one who loved you before you even opened your eyes. The one who constantly reminded you to clean out your trash or pick up your clothes. Whether you are close to your mom or not, you may have inherited some mother-worthy traits over the years. Here are a few signs you may be turning into a mom...
You remind others to be polite and respect the rules. You've turned from a rebellious, rowdy kid to a virtuous veteran. Telling your peers to quiet down is what you do. You may call out that litter bug subconsciously, but chances are, you are becoming a mom.
You dress conservatively and comfortable. Forget high heels and a tight dress. Modest is hottest, right, girls? You'd prefer sweatpants and a T- shirt any day. You have no one to impress and a lot of errands to run. You know you look better in makeup and nice hair, but who has that kind of time? Not you. You are a mom in the making.
You save everything. From coupons, to plastic bags, to utensil packets, you are ready for anything. They call you 'the living purse." Those receipts from last year? They're in a box at home. Those Starbucks and Chipotle napkins? Shoved in every nook and cranny of the car. If anyone asks for a paper bag, they better duck, because two thousand are flying towards them. You're an expert at collecting, and you may be a mom.
You ditch what you used to think was important. Money, celebrities, popularity, beauty, materials. They've just lost their color. What you used to worry about seems so silly now. You have moved on and have seen the bigger picture. You've saved money, worked hard, cared for others and found confidence in yourself. You are definitely mom material.
You put yourself last. A mom's job is to practically start off her children's lives. Her first priority is family. So, if you find yourself worrying if anyone needs food, coffee or a coat - if you do millions of things for others without even thinking of a reward, than you may be turning into a mom.
So, what do you think? Are you turning into your mom? Mothers can be quite the superheroes sometimes. And it's exciting for us young women to realize how we become caring, hard-working people over time. Hopefully your mom is still with you, and loves you, and is your hero. But if not, please know that you are still loved dearly by the most incredible parent, the Lord. And He thinks you look amazing in those sweatpants.
