26 Signs You Went to Central Catholic High School

Sometimes I miss high school. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE UT and love being in college, but sometimes I think back to those simpler times and feel nostalgic. Whenever I talk to people about high school, however, I realize mine did things a bit differently than some high schools. And that's what I love about my alma mater! Here are some (not all of them of course) signs that you went to Central Catholic High School in Toledo.

1. You lived for those Friday pep rallies.

They shortened your class schedule and let you scream your lungs out when it was your class' turn to do the Central Rah.

2. Actually, you lived for anything that cut your schedule down from 50-minute classes.

This includes, but is not limited to: assemblies, musical previews, and Discovery Days.

3. The upperclassmen scared you in your Biology class by telling you they'd throw batteries at you during Freshmen Walk

(They didn't.)

4. You're only used to Apple technology because we all got our own MacBooks or iPads.

5. You spiced up that red and gray plaid skirt with a Vera Bradley lanyard for your ID.

6. You said a prayer every time you went on the elevator, in fear of it breaking down.

7. Having C lunch meant hauling ass up 4 flights of stairs to get the last of the pizza or Bosco sticks for lunch.

8. You looked forward to every Wednesday because curly fries.

9. Fridays after school were almost always spent at the Gallagher or the Sullivan Center for football and basketball games.

10. Finding out if you had a top or bottom locker determined your entire experience for the school year.

11. Finding out if your friends had A, B, or C lunch with you did too.

12. You may or may not have been sent home from homecoming due to your dress not being long enough.

Remember the ruler they used to measure lengths?

13. Sperry's were an essential part of the uniform.

14. Someone definitely told you that there was a pool on the 5th floor when you first got there.

We had neither of those.

15. When you left CCHS, you weren't used to not having to start each class with a prayer.

16. Early dismissal usually meant 2:50 p.m...

...instead of 2:56 p.m.

17. Everyone got super excited to hear Mr. Torrence read the tale of the Irish Knight at the pep rally.

Even though you heard it the year before, and the year before that...

18. You froze to death walking to the Cathedral after exams.

But it was all worth it because you knew Christmas break was right after.

19. Instead of falling down the stairs, you fell up them.

20. If your phone went off in class, you'd all start coughing to cover it up. Gotta avoid those cites.

21. You would get to school an hour early just to get a parking spot close to the side doors.

Especially during winter when the parking lot became an ice rink.

22. No one believed you when you told them a certain Religion teacher came out on roller skates with an accordion during class and said, "Everybody polka!"

(You knew if you were in that class)

23. You felt like royalty as you walked down the halls (and tried to hold back tears) during the Senior Walk.

24. You had an overwhelming sense of pride for your school when it came to State Championship games for sports teams.

How many people can say they watched and cheered their classmates on to win a state title for football?!

25. You can still recite the Fight Song and Alma Mater easily.

"Cheer, cheer for old Central High!"

26. You miss those days dearly sometimes and wouldn't have wanted your high school experience to have been anywhere else.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
