Every college and university has its little quirks that separate it from the rest. When you go to a small school, you notice more. You hear different people say the same things. Cabrini College is no exception, but the unique qualities make it home.
The Mansion
Everyone on campus knows the story of the past owners of the Woodcrest Estate. The daughter and the stable boy fell in love. She became pregnant with his child and her father was not pleased. The stable boy went up to the bell tower of the stables (now Grace Hall) and hung himself. The tower has since been sealed off, but the rope is said to still hang there. After the daughter heard of his suicide, she jumped off of the balcony inside the mansion, killing herself and the baby. People have said that at night, they see her ghost jump.
Everywhere you go you see someone you know
It could be a professor or student, but you will always find someone to say hi to on your way to class.
Slow Wi-Fi
If any Wi-fi at all. The dorms are spotty at best, but the library and classrooms are your best bet.
Someone is always complaining about the food in the cafe
Most days, there is usually one station that is serving a meal that looks and tastes the way it should. The other days, it seems like each station has something off about it.
Long lunch line at Jazzmans
Meal exchange is very popular, and once 1 p.m. rolls around, it seems like everyone on campus is in line for a salad or a sandwich.
Quiet weekends
Cabrini has been called a "suitcase campus." With a large population of commuters and the majority of resident students living locally, the usually bustling campus seems to become a ghost town once Friday afternoon rolls around.
Speedbumps
Going over them is like climbing a mountain. You don't go a day without hearing someone bottom out in their car.
The Geese
Oh. the dreaded geese. They come by in the spring and overstay their welcome. These two are very territorial and like to hang out on the east side of campus by East Residence and Woodcrest Hall. They have been known to chase, bite, and hiss at passing students.
Parking is like the "Hunger Games"
Especially if you are a commuter, it almost seems impossible to find a parking spot.
#CabriniBlackout
A car could hit a pole in Radnor and the whole campus goes down.
You can get from one corner of campus to the other in five minutes
And that's at a casual pace too. Over sleeping is never an issue.
Do Something Extraordinary
You hear this phrase or see it posted somewhere more times than you can count.
