Signs That You Are Completely Over This Semester

Its time for this horrendous semester to end!

Signs That You Are Completely Over This Semester

We are pulling into the final stretch of the semester. For a majority of students, the last day of finals cannot come soon enough. I personally cannot wait to kick my feet up, crack open those novels I still haven’t read yet, and just unwind from all the stress of college for a few months. I see the home stretch. My freedom is right out in front of me! Like many other students, I am getting real antsy about the semester coming to an end and I have discovered that we all share the same symptoms of being completely done with this semester. Here is how you can tell if you have So-Done-With-This-itis:

You calculate what your final grade will be at the end of the semester.

You will spend more time trying to figure out the lowest possible grade you need in order to pass the class, rather than actually studying. You will crunch the numbers until you realize how long you've been sitting at your desk, doing the math you told your high school algebra teacher that you would never actually use. It is a sheer, unequivocal sign that you are ready for the semester to be over.

You started to aim for passing rather than As.

From waiting until the last minute to write that five-page essay, to skimming your textbook before the final exam, you tried to shoot for all As, but college is hard! All of the effort and motivation you had in the beginning of the semester has gone. You're just trying not to pass! Besides, you get the same number of credits whether you pass with either a C or an A, so who cares?

Your room is never clean.

It's really hard to keep a clean living-space when you just don't care anymore. The dishes will stay by your sink for days at a time. Your desk and chair will become a hodgepodge of unfolded laundry and snack wrappers. But hey, at least your bed will be ready for naps throughout the day.

You nap more than you party.

Let's face it. All of the excitement and activities have got you spent. You need time to just turn off your phone and sleep for 16 hours a day. Either you're in class or your in bed. There is no in between.

Your everyday outfit.

You stop putting your full effort in your own social life, and your wardrobe is no exception. Those comfy sweatpants and free t-shirt that you got from some school function will be your go-to outfit everyday of the week. They are the perfect ensemble for crawling straight out of bed, going to class, and coming straight back to the warmth of your bed.

You just stop trying in general.

At this stage, you have almost completely given up. You're just waiting for final exams to be over so you can high-tail it outta there and get back home. Motivation and actual trying has been completely thrown out of the window at this point. You will put very little time and effort in anything that you hand in for the remaining of the semester.

Don't get me wrong. These symptoms do not mean you are becoming a bad student. It just means that you have worked extremely hard for several months and really need a break. Just think, in just a few short weeks we are all going to be done with school and can finally kick back and relax!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
